Description ...::EDIT::...
Larger and edited file on request.
Several people were complaining about the small font. Leaving critiques and comments are more than welcome, but I just don't like it when people use my tutorials and at the same time nitpick about the smallest things and don't even leave a "thank you" note.

So for those who do appreciate the 30 hours I spent in writing and drawing this tutorial: I uploaded a larger file. You can click download for full size.

...Whoa...

This is a MASSIVE tutorial I did in only 2 freakin' days! LOL.

I said I would do a gift for you all because someone hit the 60.000 pageviews. Besides, I got over 1550 watchers and my drawings of Vincent and House got over 1000 favourites.

Ooohh look at the pretty colors. My previous tutorials look quite boring compared to this baby.

Ehm... what else to say...
Have fun!

...EDIT...
Tortillions cannot be reused except for smudged areas.

However, blendingsticks can be used more often if you sharpen them with a pencil sharpener or sandpaper!!

hey! awesome tutorials, i'm so glad you posted these. Just wanted to let you know that I've found a way to reuse tortillions. You get on of those block-sandpaper pencil sharpeners and you gently rub the dirty end of the tortillion across sand off the used part and leave a clean blender. just thought I'd share with you.

I cannot believe people nitpick when you have spent so much time to put together a tutorial to help people. I thank you from the bottom of my heart as I want to do sketching but apart from doing the outlines I just do not know where to start and how to carry on. You have given me the confidence. Thank you.

My only issue, looking back on this, was that Smudging with your Fingers IS MESSY, but it gives a Shifting shadows feel, which i find usefull for Shading places unfamiliar to characters.

Keep in mind all of the stuff you can now do afer you have read thru this a number of times, but also know that this is just ONE WAY OF DOING THINGS. When you draw, you should have fun with it, Make it your own!

ohh thank you so much!
I've got a question, about the way I should make the parts to blend (chapter2, images ready and not ready for blending) should I draw stripes (like the first picture) before blending? or should I make circles before blending?

use a nail file or an embry board or sandpaper to clean ur tortillions so that you can use them again and again xx

p.s... i love your work.. and its so difficult to explain how to draw and do certain things,, but you do it so well.. well done

Hi you have very good tutorials, they help me a lot. But I've seen you only have tutorials about drawing parts of humans and one for fur on animals.

Can you make more tutorials for drawing animals? It would be nice.

WoW! This really helped a lot!!!! >~< Sorry to bother you but a quick question....I tend to lean my hand down when I draw so I can grasp my pencil >~< Um... the area I often draw tends to get shaded in the process....Can you suggest a way for me to avoid that?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

the-actual-me In reply to YumeHunter [2012-02-19 18:54:54 +0000 UTC]

I know I am not an "expertese" on shading and such (Which is why I came here), but use a clean peice of paper to guard the hand that seems to be smudging the area. I do that, but don't fully rest your hand on it (You know? Don't add twenty pounds of pressure to it!) and you should be perfectly fine. :3

Hey, I'm lovin' all of your tutorials, I can draw very well but I'm learning a lot about this. See, another con for finger blending: you have to be VERY careful with your dirty fingers, or you could stamp them all over the work. Personal experience x)
