what kind of glue would you use?

you would use a hot glue gun, but be prepared because it dries fast.

Maybe I will try this one day. I've always wanted one of those little dolls of my fursona and if i could do it right i would be cool to do it myself.

awesome! i'd been wondering how you join the clay bits and the cloth bits. .) i'd wanted to experiment and try the fantasy genre with doing animals like this. .D thank you!

Does the felt help to prevent unsteadyness? I made the skeleton like on your tutorial, but added cotton around it instead of felt, and its really waggely..

Cheers for the tutorial! I recently saw some posable plushies, and really wanted to make one, but like you said, most artists refuse to explain how :L Id figured out most of the process, but your tutorial showed me what I was stuck on, as well as bits Id got wrong, so cheers! Im currently making a dragon

Information on how to make these kind of things is really in scarce supply. I make the non-posable sort, and trying to find anywhere that would explain how to attach the clay parts to the bodies was a nightmare. In the end I spoke to my fiancee's mum, who had studied textile arts and could point me at things like the victorian-style porcelain doll heads and things for reference, so I've been basing all mine off've those methods.
I've never tried making posable dolls, but I might have to have a go after seeing this, thanks!

Thank you thank you thank you thank you!!! I have seen a lot of pose-able dolls around, but no one seemed willing to share their secrets/techniques, even those profiting off of tutorials. Would this work for a dragon and could I use another material other than faux fur? I want something more leathery

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Catigma In reply to crystal-rain-fox [2012-02-29 15:39:16 +0000 UTC]

I'm sorry about the late reply. You've probably sorted things out by now

I'm glad to see my sharing of knowledge could be a help Yes, this technique should work well for making a dragon! Yes, you can use soft leather or maybe some other shiny material, like satin? I think I would've used velvet if i were to make a dragon

If you use materials that are not furry, make sure your stitches are clean and neat, as they will be pretty visible

You have no idea how thankful I am. I've seen poseables (and just plain non-poseable dolls) and thanks to this, I might be able to make one

I had wondered if wire was used for the poseable effect...CIrcumstances look favorable, and I can't wait to see what happens!

That aside, this was exactly what I was looking for. I plan to use this method, so if I ever get around to doing something with this, I'll send a link your way~
