How do you keep the rice in the back?
π: 0 β©: 2
Catigma In reply to SpookyCandyTheater [2015-12-13 14:21:07 +0000 UTC]
I just leave a very small hole open before i close when sewing, and fill the rice as one of the last things i do.

What I would do is make a little pouch for the rice to keep it from scattering. I've done it this way for plush animals but it may not also work for these.

Hmm, what if you want the tail to be very fluffy, like a fox tail (I'm making a fox myself) do you then give it "pajamas?"

Yes, i,d make a pajama anyway.

Hello, I love your works. I wanted to ask I'm thinking of making a baby owl with a clay face plate and a soft body, can you give me some advice on how I can probably create a pattern to attach the face plate. I really dont know how else to explain. But i'll send a picture of the face plate I made so you can see what im talking about. Thanks.

it has been very helpful, thank u! Also I have some tips
- if you want to make one where you control it with the stick you take some cords a knob n' stuff, then you run the cord to the head and then some other stuff :3 if you want to control wings or other stuff then use more cords
- DO NOT use plastic crafty eyes that are thin, I learned that the hard way.
- to hide the smell of glue and other scent you can put lavender, basil, rosemary, and any strong fragrance!
- if you have a test doll, try to brush the hair and blow dry it out
- if you want to give the fur a singed look DO NOT set it on fire!!! Try taking some ash and rubbing it on the ends of the fur, otherwise you can take charcoal and make powder, then dip/ roll your doll in it, careful! That stuff doesn't need much to make it black!
- if your making a snake try doing leather or cloth for the body and chain mail for the outside layer coat. Otherwise get fish scales
- if you want the eyes to have glitter and don't want the textures you can put glitter on the underside
- if you want your doll to gain heat like a real creature you can hide tinfoil under the fur or have black fur. The tinfoil to can plaster to the body before putting the fur on.
- to add a constant sound you take a old working watch that makes the little noise and put it where the heart should be.
I hope these helped!!!

Thanks for the tutorial. I've been wanting to give these critters a go for some time, but could never figure out how. The only other tip I've found which may be helpful is this:
When making the clay body parts, include a rim that the fur will go over, like you see on the heads of dolls (like baby born with the plastic heads and soft body) you can attach it with a cable tie inside the 'coat'. Haven't tried myself, but wondered if it would make sense for you. Though if your method is secure, awesome lol
