Just playing around with colour & light with camera on completely manual. For those who wonder.... this is a CD that has been cracked by putting in the microwave for about 3 seconds (yes, I'm brave).

Lovely work.
A friend once told me that every rainbow that we see is unique to each one of us because we all see them from different perspectives i.e non of use see exactly the same rainbow.
Nice idea--don't know if it's true but I like to think it is.

that's a nice thought... but then again, I think all people see all things differently - not only rainbows - it's part of what makes us unique
besides, you know me... I just love rainbows... hehe

I have the sudden urge to microwave all my CDs and tape them to my walls.

Too funky, I wouldn't be brave enough to try it as I have no luck and my microwave would simply break but I love the light and colors here along with the textures this gives. Almost looks like a bunch of multicolored gems or fire opals. Excellent idea, great shot.

Thanks so much... for a long time I wasn't brave enough either, then I thought, what the heck, I might as well try it.
Repairs shouldn't be too costly lol
It's the texture that I like in this shot - it makes the spectrum look different from the usual thing, however, I wish I could say the idea was mine, but I can't

Amazing abstract shot - you must have had a few sparks of the cd in the microwave? Great shot

I especially like the rainbow patterns
Looking at the other comments, I have never seen a cracked CD like this before!
Methinks this should happen to all Microsoft disks

I've never tried placing a cd, or dvd, in a microwave I'm to worried as to what might happen!
Very nice photo and definitely a very original idea. nicely done.

I was too.... but my fingers were so fast on that "stop" button when I saw the flash of electricity inside... so that's why it was only 3 seconds inside the microwave... lol
I'm thinking of trying 5 seconds to see if it cracks the cd more... lol
oh, and thank you

Thank you
It's a cd that I put in the microwave oven (for 3 seconds) - it cracks like that - makes it very interesting... lol
Needless to say, I'll be trying out some waterdrops on there too...

How did you know it reacts like this?

I've seen other people doing it... I've been afraid all this time of doing it for fear of breaking my microwave.... lol
But it made a small shock, and I pressed the stop button very fast! lol .... and the microwave is fine... hehe

So... A microwave can break because of baking a cd inside?
I certainly have to try. XD

yes - same reason why you shouldn't put anything metal inside your microwave... lol
you'll literally see sparks flying.

You call it a spark? It looked like a baby thunder...
The CD smells strange now... Like fireworks. And hangs on my table lamp. ;>
I wonder why it reacts like this. I'll have to research in the meantime.
Anyway, thanks for the wonderful idea, it was awesome. XD
