Description
NEW AND UPDATED VERSION MUCH MUCH BETTERAnother worksheet for my students (though this time geared a little bit more for the middle school crowd). I literally did a google search of different eye types and traced over them in Photoshop for examples.
The 2 nice-looking images are from Burne Hogarth's books ("Drawing the Human Head", if I remember correctly)
Thanks in advance for any faves, and check out my other tutorials for more...

Ah my goodness, thank you for this! I'm so used to drawing big cartoony eyes (because I did want my style to be cartoony before but now I want it to be semi-realistic)

this is good. I started drawing anime at the age of 14 and like 16 years later I'm finding it very difficult to get away from drawing eyes all... anime-like. Gotta soak in more of this great stuff.Β

Anime is a style, just as really any form of art is a style. Β It all begins with reality and realism and transforms from there into whatever elements the artist deems most vital to their interpretation of reality.
There's nothing wrong with anime, or learning from anime, is what I'm saying. Β But it's like trying to unravel a ball of yarn from the middle.
I'm glad my tutorial helped you get on the path to finding the loose end of that thread, at least a little. Β My best advice is to draw from life as often as you can. Β Trace photos if you need to, and learn from every line and shape you make. Β Best of luck!

Thanks for this and the hands sheet. Two of my worst enemies of anatomy has always been those two.

XDD I'm glad my stupid attempts at humor went appreciated by some! You're welcome, and I hope they helped make those not as daunting!

Oh, you know me. For some reason, the simplest attempts at humor always gives me a chuckle.
And you have no idea how helpful they are. Even inspired me into making a couple myself.

Very useful tutorial. It was difficult to find a resource that acknowledged the creases under the eye. Thank you for making this available. I think it will be very helpful to other artists as well as myself.

Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad to hear it's useful and not what's been mentioned before. I really need to expand on this to include eyelashes and eyebrows...

We never see all of it because of our eyelids. And because it sits in a socket. I'm kinda glad about that, not sure I wanna see all of an eyeball x.x

Wouldn't it be neat if we could see all sides of an object? I bet I would get lost every time I opened my eyes.

So how is it going? are they treating you well? The class is doing fine, they just havent adjusted to his teaching style yet, you were easier to understand, closer to our age group, the main thing thats diffrent is the music, or lack thereof, the music thing was a great idea, art teachers should adopt it. :3

The middle school kids 'push' a lot-- they challenge my authority and rules and all that. With 3 different teachers this year, it's no surprise. It's a tough situation, but I can handle it. I hope everyone adjusts okay! I'm glad to hear I was easy to understand, but... I mean, he's not too far from your age group, either, he's really that old XD And I'm also surprised that music isn't a standard thing in art classes. I know Mr. Mills plays music, but... yeah. My art teacher always had music on, in high school. I play it for these middle-schoolers now, too, though they're more critical of my musical taste, lol. I like to think that theirs hasn't quite developed yet
