Before you comment, please realize I have nothing against you if you dislike him, or pair the characters up differently. The stuff listed here is canon because a lot of fanon tends to bash.If you still feel like raging, take a breath, step away from the computer, and do something else. Like drawing me fanart.Because this guy has soooooo much potential! I love his character, he's got so much untapped emotion! But no one cares because he's not a sarcastic prettyboy or a psychotic stalker.
BTW, in the top middle picture, he's not signing autographs (like my sister thought), he's turning a page. Fangirls follow him everywhere, apparently.
Panel comments: I love Ryou in the "to the Mew-cave!" panel, that was just fun to do. My favorite panel, though, is the bottom-middle (seriously, I'm surprised he isn't angsty)!
All the love-panels were fun to do. I almost had him saying "...I don't date midgets?" to Minto in the second one, but decided it was too OOC to include. Retasu was just really fun to draw (actually, if pulled off well, this is kinda a cute couple), and I love the chibi-Sue, she's so cute~

I'm not pretty much of a Tokyo Mew Mew Fan but truly like the IchigoxMasaya pairing....... I'm cool with the IchigoxKisshu pairing though but.... sometimes, I don't understand when it comes to wishing which pairing can become canon.... I don't understand why people don't view how the main character feels at times, Most people hate Masaya because he gets in the way of their pairings. -_- overall this is a good pic!

For me, the only thing that ever made the character annoying was Ichigo's constant gushing over him. It felt like I wasn't getting to form my own opinion of the character because the author was using her to form it for me. But then the episode where Quiche tries to kill him in the canyon-looking thing, and since she wasn't there at the moment, I realized I was never really annoyed with Aoyama at all (partially because I was sitting there going, "Nooo! Quiche, don't kill him!!!").
I finally became okay with the pairing when I realized she was every bit as good for him as he was for her. Sure, she fangirls him in her internal monologues, but she gave him the chance to open up and actually be able to express himself.
In a way, he kind of reminds me of Yuki Sohma from Fruits Basket--everyone within the series admires him, but no one really bothers to get to know him. Then suddenly, someone shows up who actually seems to care about the same things he does, and actually tries to get to know him. In a way, the pairing was almost inevitable.
"To the Mew Cave!" --That's definitely my favorite panel.

I never really disliked him, but I think he could've been a much more interesting character. He's just so Gary-Stu, I wish the writers had given him more character development.

I admit, I used to DESPISE Aoyama, back in my weebo days,*shivers* but now he's okay, just a bit annoying from time to time. I remember fantasizing about Kisshu and Ichigo falling in love and Aoyama getting hit by a bus. *sighs* Oh, the memories.
But, actually, RetatsuxAoyama isn't that much of a bad ship. o u o

Finally, someone who likes Masaya and is not from the Japanese fandom! The strange thing is, many American fans hate Masaya, but he gets barely any hate in the Japanese fandom. In fact, in a Nakayoshi character poll, he ranked ABOVE Ryou and Kisshu! I guess that trope "Americans Hate Tingle" is in effect.
BTW, I laughed at the "He is NOT dead" part. I've seen too many Die For Our Ship fanfics to count. It's getting annoying to me.

oh god! you killed me with the "He's not dead" panel and the text on the stone XD Personally I don't really like him (warning; Kisshu/Ichigo fangirl here) But I do respect him and find those "Masaya bashing fanfics" boring and kind of immature. Yea sure that many want Ichigo with someone else (me included) but that doesn't change the fact that Mia Ikumi wanted her to be with Aoyoma.
I respect the guy but deep inside, I still hate him

I feel so sorry for this poor character. I still don't understand how he is less popular then the stupid sarcastic blonde and... well... you named Kisshu perfectly. Kisshu amuses me as a character, but I don't think him and Ichigo are in love or perfect together like everyone has in their heads

I love how you defend him. ^^ It really aggravates me when fans bash him because he's too perfect. Geez. He's very imperfect if you ask me. And then they even try to pair KISSHU to Ichigo. That is SO true. I hate it when people keep bashing up Masaya just because they'd prefer Ichigo to be with someone else... or because they just can't be bothered to try and understand him.
I've read quite a few fanfics in which he is completely OoC, and breaks up with/cheats on Ichigo, etc., most of which were so badly written I couldn't force myself to read them if I wanted to. But what is even more painful is when I see well-written stories in which Masaya is treated badly... it hurts to think that peope hate him so much...

LOL you've made some good points. Although he's not dark/angst/emo he's a good pair for ichigo. I'm a ichigoxmasaya fan. Their love is pure and true. Both of them are always there for each other in times of need. Plus masaya is so polite, intelligent and good natured! Who wouldn't want a guy like that?
Kishu on the other hand; I don't blame ichigo for disliking him in the manga and in the anime series. He's too "FRESHY" with her and he keeps trying to rape her in the manga whenever he can find the chance to. DX
In fact he did it so much that it made it annoying for me.
Sometimes I like RyouxIchigo as much as I like Masaya X ichigo together. But i think I'm more of a Masaya X Ichigo fan.

Wow, I had a fan-girl moment. Those are rare. Its nice to find something like this that tells about how Aoyama really is, not how Kish/Ryou fans need him to be. He ISN'T perfect, he pretends to be perfect, but you forgot one flaw; he hates humans. Yes, thats my favorite flaw of his (a bit creepy) its what makes writing about him so much fun. Yay someone who doesn't hate Masaya. I like the love thing with Masaya and Ichigo even though I'm a Kish+Ichigo fangirl but I'm open minded to other parings. You should have also said that he is not Deep Blue because a lot of people think they're the same person.
Yeah there is a lot of fics where they kill him off. Wouldn't it be better to send him America and have him break up with her because it would be to hard to have a long distant relationship? I mean the whole killing him thing is VERY OLD!
I'm not much of a Masaya fan. I just think he is so, so.

Thank you! The Deep blue thing is a good point, I don't know why that didn't occur to me. I guess I thought it was obvious that they were separate--in the anime, at least (currently don't have the manga for reference) his skin even changes color when one takes over the body!

Yet people ignore that fact and say they're the same person to make Masaya sound bad. I wounder how this Masaya bashing madness started anyway? The only connection that Masaya has with Deep Blue that I can see is that Deep Blue is Masaya's father. Since Masaya was an orphan and Deep Blue said in the manga "Masaya? The Blue Knight? That is something I created to deceive this world."
People have made so many stupid excuses to hate the character that it's kind of sad. Like saying Masaya is gay. Which really doesn't make sense. -.-

I assume it started because people preferred a different Ichigo pairing, and liked the other boys better. I know that some people really don't like Masaya--and that's fine, but it's the bashing that really irks me.

Although he's definitely not one of my favourite characters... (cha, I am a Kish fangirl... XD) it does DEFINATELY annoy me when people make Masaya OOC -_- I've read fanfics where he has:
- Cheated on Ichigo (in various ways)
- Announced his love for Minto.
- Raped Ichigo/ forced her into things
- Become a violent drunk
Strangely, I havent yet seen him die o_O But anyway... each of them make him so incredibly OOC... I die -_-. I mean... I want Ichigo with Kish but I'm not that desperate XD
But yeah... well done for this. Maybe people will wake up. Probably not but its worth a try
My fanfictions (totalling to... 1 xD) always get 'rid' of Masaya in a humane and in character way because such... misconceptions you have wrote about annoy me... XD

It's amazing, the sheer amount of Masaya hate - there are multiple fics at fanfiction.net solely about killing him off in various ways! It's kinda ruined IchigoxKisshu for me (because I do think the idea is cute).

I love IchigoxKish because... it just seems like a better pairing to me. Mia could have done so much with the plotline XD Really she could.
But Masaya is a decent character... not my type (XD) but he's reliable and kind. He definitely wouldn't rape Ichigo o_O.
