Description
Tutorial for painting a close-up of a Wolf (or any other furry creature).WARNING: large file. It might take a while before the tutorial shows up on your screen, so please, be patient. I was too lazy to add a preloader...
Use the buttons at the top of the tutorial to navigate through the slides. I have no idea why the text has turned out jagged and hard to read, so I apologise if you have difficulties reading it.
ARTIST'S COMMENTS
Thank you ever so much for my second DD ~AnimalLover345 and ^shelldevil !
EDIT: Due to popular demand I re-named the tutorial more appropriately "How to Paint a Wolf".
EDIT 2: Fixed all known spelling mistakes.
A tutorial I pulled together of my last Wolf piece. I don't know if it will be of help or use to anyone, but there's no harm in making one anyway! Please bear in mind that this is the first time I've drawn something this furry this close up, so I'm sure there are other ways of doing this too.
If you have any problems with viewing the tutorial or any questions or problems in general, please let me know. I'll be happy to help as much as I can
NOTE: The tutorial explains functions and options available in Adobe Photoshop CS2. Any older or newer version of Photoshop should still work just as well. I have no experience in any other digital editing program (such as GIMP or Corel Painter) so I have no idea to what extent you can follow the tutorial there. If anything, it might just give you an idea of how to draw similarly, but you will have to find out on your own I'm afraid.
You are not authorised to redistribute this tutorial or the original image without my written permission, or claim as your own. Please respect my wishes.

Thank you, I'm glad to hear that you found it useful I tried to include as many "general" tricks as I could to make it worth while for those that might not exactly be looking to paint a wolf

i dont know yet how make the step 3, i dont know what brush use *

cerona In reply to anacmf [2012-03-23 11:03:50 +0000 UTC]
It doesn't necessarily have to be that particular brush Any standard round, hard-edged brush will do just fine as long as you turn the flow and pressure on

Thanks! I tried to keep it as general as possible so you can apply the techniques to any type of painting, not necessarily just a wolf or furry animal

one question: can i do this in paint tool SAI ?
π: 0 β©: 2
cerona In reply to XnUclEaR-LaZeRX [2012-05-20 15:36:15 +0000 UTC]
I'm sure you'd be able to achieve the same sort of result on SAI although you'd probably have to adapt some of the brushes and such. I've never used SAI so I don't know how the brushes work on there

yes the tools are very alike and the detailing is still optional, you just have to effort a little more

Thank you for putting this up for our perusal!
What size canvas and pixel psi did you use? I looked but if it's there I missed it, sorry.

cerona In reply to SDetjen [2012-08-24 23:29:58 +0000 UTC]
I'm glad you liked it I tend to draw in standard A4 size, so 3508x2480 px at 300 dpi. This is because my old laptop never liked working at any bigger resolution without lagging and crashing really badly, so it's just sort of stuck with me even though I changed laptops a while back
