I like the new design for Sal (as well as the old). But the reason I chose this design for the animation was because (post-reboot) Sally admitted that she's a terrible cook.

Hmmm..... Are you trying to start a series of animations where every (well maybe not EVERY) Sonic characters tries his/her hand in cooking?
This could be a good excercise in character animation, trying to figure out how every character would do the same action in their own unique/special way, I think it might be interesting, I'd see it.
I kind of thought of trying a walk cycle for a couple of Sonic characters myself, but we'll have to see if I'll make them in the end or not.

It sort of started out as a random idea with Antoine, then I had the urge to animate Sally cooking next. I might do another character later since I really have enjoyed making these. You're absolutely right, it is a great exercise in character animation!
You should certain give the walkcycle a shot! It's been quite a while since I did one and it was a fun and challenging exercise. I learned a lot from it!

At the very least I'd redoΒ my Sonic run-cycle since I'm sure I can do better, it actually wasn't that challenging,Β I don't remember being frustrated while working on it or even spending that much time on it.
