I finally got off and decided to finish this. So yay. Enjoy~ The character I depicted is Amaterasu from Okami, epic video game on ps2 hahah.
UPDATED! - 9/9/10
AAaaa.. much better now. It's short and simple, but I think this method is really good for both beginners and more advanced artists!
Hope you guys like!
Feel free to comment with any question
Since the old version featured a different method, you can still find it here: img826.imageshack.us/img826/21…
warning: super old art lmao
Note: this tutorial is from 2010! If any part of it is outdated let me know and I will update this tutorial.

This probably sounds stupid, but I've never done lineart before.

But how do you just color inside the lines. My color is just covering the linart and the background so its all grey. :[
Help! *screams and runs in circles*

i have a really silly question...but how do you view your layers? and how do you colour over the lineart without colouring over, if you know what i mean.

Press 'Ctrl + L' and a dockable Layers screen will pop up. To get a new layer press 'Ctrl + Shift + N'. You put the lineart on the 'top' layer and colour on any layers below that. If you need anything else, I suggest googling it, it's usually explained much better over there ^.^
Hopefully this helped!

use the dropper tool xP
It looks like the thing you squeeze eye drops out of or something.
then click on whatever color you want to select : D

=This is very good! I would try it out, but my scanner won't work so, oh well. I just have one question. I need help on how to delete the border around text. Like that yellow and black flashing border that you can't un-select. I need help with that. Thanks anyways! I hope you continue!

chex-mix In reply to meetah12 [2010-05-23 19:42:34 +0000 UTC]
sorry for the way late reply...
but if you still have this problem, the border around text isn't delete-able, unfortunately. It'll show up whenever you work on the image, but if you view the image outside the gimp you won't see it (:

Electricmudkip In reply to meetah12 [2010-05-08 17:22:55 +0000 UTC]
That's the layer boundary. You can't delete it without deleting the text.
