Stamp by ~ChikitaWolfBackground from Google
I find nothing amusing whatsoever about that horrible event. I can understand people'll joke about it and most don't mean harm necessarily; but lately, I've noticed the joking has gone overboard to the extent that people will call it amusing [and believe it].
What the Hell is so amusing about that event? About all the people who died? About all the destruction? About the suffering that still occurs today because of it?
I just don't understand.
To those of you who literally, and I mean literally, think 9/11 is AMUSING, I think you need to take a trip on Youtube and see the news reports of 9/11, or look up "9 11" on Google images. Perhaps even check up on this site as well-> [link]
If you think people jumping out of the twin towers because they had nowhere to go, the firefighters who were killed upon entering to attempt to save those in the towers, and all the other lives that were lost tragically is amusing, I think you need your head checked, IMHO.
Because that's just sick.
//end rant
Edit: There will be trolls on this. It would probably be better just to ignore them...Unless you have a funny comeback comment >w> *reading those in amusement*
Edit2: I must say, I never expected someone to get POed by me giving my opinion on this subject. If you feel that I need to "pull the stick out of my ass" and "GTFO the internet" for "not accepting other people's opinions", please take a look at your own advice.
Edit3: Thank you for all the favs and views!
Edit4: 2nd page for 8 hours? Awesome xD Thanks again!
Edit5: Gotta love dem edits. Ahem. Anyway! I came home to find 100 comments. I can't reply to them all D: So, yeah. If I don't reply, I apologize, but I really am reading all of your comments. And, on a side note; yes, I understand people have dark humour and other opinions. But ya know, this is mine. I believe that there's a boundary that ought not be crossed when it comes to joking around about tragedy [and then believing the actual event is amusing].
Edit6: Just to get this out there, I'm not going to throw a which tragedy is worse pity party comparison. Tragedy is tragedy. And I'm talking about 9/11 in this stamp, not Japan. If you want to see something for the tragedy of Japan, do look up a stamp for that. And please, people, I realize people die everyday. But that doesn't make 9/11 any less horrible, imo. Whenever I get a comment throwing out statistics about how many people die per day I do this -> . Please stay on the subject of the stamp. Thanks ahead of time for understanding~! :3
Edit7: Here we go~! For those who are ranting about other tragedies like Japan not getting attention and not being funny either -> [link] Enjoy :3
Edit8: Please read through comments before making your own... it's beginning to get rather repetitive ^^"
And honestly, I don't mind hearing other's opinions. I like to try and understand a view from another person's point of view. It'd just be nice if it could pertain to the actual subject of this stamp and not throw my words out of context... because the rash assumptions are beginning to get tiresome.
Anyway, I think this'll be the last edit I make. On a side note, if you'd like an earlier comment you made hidden due to excessive replies (or the like), just note me and I'll hide it for you. No problem~ ^^
*If there are any other edits on this (like to my original argument or to former edits), I'll put them in brackets

I like those who respect the victims, but I WILL NOT stand for those who insult and soil the victims and their memories. I remember 9-11 myself; even at age 6, I knew that something was very wrong.

I have to agree. Sometimes it helps to laugh about it, like lessening its impact or something. I remember me and my classmates joked that day about how New Yorkers were always saying they'd seen everything. It was stupid, insensitive, and probably offensive, but we were also desperate to laugh about something after watching two planes crash into the Twin Towers and then seeing the Twin Towers fall afterwards on live TV. I dunno-- it's kind of hard to explain. I just know none of us meant anything by it... because all of us were pretty traumatized from the attacks for a while.
Maybe some people don't know when they cross the line? Something that offends me might not offend someone else. That can make these things a little hard to figure out some of the time. But that doesn't really explain the ones that really go over-board.
The only thing worse than the jokes going overboard is all the conspiracy theories, practically the ones that blame America or the American government. (The only role our government had in the tragedy was its incompetence and stupidity in preventing it.) The people who support these theories and create them seem to lose sight of the tragedy, of all the lives that were lost that day. I posted a journal here on the anniversary where I reflected about the event. Some conspiracy theory supporter kept posting about conspiracy stuff even after I repeatedly asked her to stop... because it wasn't the point of the journal entry and because I didn't want to talk about that aspect in the first place. I ended up blocking her because she just wouldn't respect my wishes. Too many of those supporters seem to be insensitive that way. Worse still, most of the theorists seem to ignore or have forgotten what things were like before September 11, 2001.
I guess that's all I've got to say. Just ignore if this is a matter you don't feel like talking about this anymore.

Who could joke about that? I may
not have experienced it, but just watching the
replays of those planes crashing into the towers... it
makes want to cry. Those deaths, ordinary people...

Happy to see that there are still some sane people in the world. I came across a guy recently who said he didn't care about the attacks and that we should just get over it. He even compared it to Michael Jackson's death. Am I only one who found that to be a little bit in bad taste?

I wasn't clear. When somebody told him that it was in bad taste, he said that he felt the same as they did when somebody told him to get over Michael Jackson's death, but I don't think he apologized to that person anyway. Still,

Just like any other horrible event, people will joke about it. Maybe to cope with it, or just because they have a darker humour. And that's okay. No harm is intended, and usually most of them don't think that this tragedy was funny in the slightest.
However, people claiming that the 9/11 was the worst tragedy in America's history are clearly blind to all the other horrible disasters that killed much more people.

I do say 9/11 was a horrible event. I just love the jokes people use to brighten it up. You know how everyone is just saying it's so terrible and always brings down the mood. I just wish people could think about these jokes not as offensive but as something to liven things up.

It was horrible I rember being at the neighbors house when it happened, watching the second tower get hit, my mom crying... Hearing people screaming on the tv. I was 7 but I remember perfectly... I can't believe anyone would joke about such a horrible event. This is somewhat random, but the night before, my mom woke with a start because she dreamed that she and my dad were tall towers and a plane pierced their hearts, It could not have been a coincidence..

That's horrible. Some people need to know how to respect all the horrible deaths that happened. People jumping out of the building due to basically sheer terror, burning alive, maybe a few ripped to death by shards. Horrible.

People always remember human being burning to death, jumping from hundreds of feet up because the alternative was to bad. We people are weird like that. For some reason we care that hundreds of people got killed because of a bunch of hate, like the holocaust or the Purges.

Because that is when the word Genocide was created! Kind of like when you hear 'weapons of mass destruction', people think of Japan. The original is what drives it all home. Or we could use the Russian and Iraq Purges ordered by the government.

Well, we do. But we always remember so that the same mistakes aren't made. Otherwise, we don't learn from the mistakes and it's just a pathetic cycle. Ever seen Lion King (it's on and it works)? When the monkey hits everyone, they figure out to duck, because they remember the pain. Forgiving and Forgetting are two different things.

People actually think this is FUNNY?! That makes me sick...
I was only like 2 or 3 when that happened but I remember a little while later looking at the tallest buildings in the world and the WTC was there. That's when my mom told me that they were gone and I didn't realize that she meant so many people had died. When i got more in depth, my mom told me how she was scared for my cousin who lives in NY. It's just scary to know that there are people like that out there that will do these things...
I accidentally made a joke about this once and I regret it with all of my heart It's just so scary...I hate to believe that it actually happened

I was only one or two when it happened...
I was watching a show today about it, and it had messages left from the people
some of those messages were from the people that died!
One of the people , which was a lady, was only married for one year! And she wasn't far from the levels the plane crashed in... I almost cried hearing the messages...
We will always remember this day no matter what!

I hate the whole "people die every day" argument. It's completely insensitive and stupid! Of course people die every day...anyone who dies should be given proper respects.
Personally, I think the people who don't care about 9/11 are people who hate America and are always talking about how it sucks, and how they wish they could move somewhere else and blah blah blah. It's just another American thing they can hate on.

I was too young to understand what was happening, but my mother, holding my newborn brother, grandmother, great grandmother, they were all on the couch; white-faced, staring at the TV. My mother burst out in tears and regretted giving birth to my brother and I. We lived in New Jersey on an air force base, too, so we wondered if we would be targeted. I didn't know what horrible things were happening that morning, but I didn't like to watch her cry the way she did. What's worse is that it's on my brother's baby tape, too.
No amount of 9/11 specials I've watched will ever settle the guilt I hold inside for not being harmed by the attacks. The disaster is one of my soft spots. Looking into the eyes of a survivor; welling with tears, even staring at them through the TV screen; it makes me bawl every time. I'll never forget this for as long as I live.
