Description LazystampislazyOTL

I'm sure those of you who have dived into the muck of debate and flaming have seen it.

I'd love to add stamps in here as examples, but the anti-religion stamps far outweighed the anti-atheism stamps (from what I could find), and I gave up x'D

As a Christian myself (I'd like to think I'd be considered a "sane" one, lmao), I've been called a lot of nasty things and gotten more than my fair share of vulgar comments. But goodness, I've seen atheists (or anyone not entirely religious for that matter) get ripped apart just as bad, if not worse.

Recently, however, I've noticed that people are starting a ridiculous crying out that "[Athiests / Religious folk] are the haters!!", "There's only hate on the [Atheist / Religion] side!!", etc.

. . . wut?

tl;dr: There's hate on both sides, people. It's not just one side's fault.

Anyway, !DoItForTheLulz says it best in regards to the extremism on both sides.

I wish Christians would come up with a new nameSeriously, I wish you good Christians--the ones of value and true faith--would devise a way to call yourselves something different so that we can identify you from the morons. I mean, really. Most of you people are like anyone else, but you have morons who spout stupid shit that just makes your religion look like a brain washing factory of retardation.

I wish branding was still legal. Then we could just mark fucktards on the forehead with giant "F"s.

For "fucktard".

Edit: Now that I have your attention,

This applies to everyone. It just so happens that "Christian" is a really good topic word for people to look.

I aim this mostly at Chris

EDIT: I'd really appreciate it if people didn't attempt "turning" others away from their beliefs or lack thereof. Everyone has a right to believe in what they want - there's no need for you to start leeching onto people's comments and telling them they're messed up or wrong, etc, etc.
If I keep finding this going on, I'm going to disable comments.
Healthy conversation is encouraged, however

EDIT2: Need examples of what I'm talking about in this stamp? I suggest reading through the comments ;D *ahem*Page 6

EDIT3: Featured~!

Honestly I Have to agree with this. I've met horribly nasty Christians and I've met horribly nasty aithest (Sadly I don't know many people outside of the those two group). I've met a aithest who openly attacked me for mention to a friend I was a christian and I've met christian who told an athiest he was going to burn in hell for no justified reason. All this being said I am a semi christian ( i won't really define myself because I'm kind of shitty at it) who can happily date an athiest and have perfectly normal discussions on our theories of the universe.

I don't know what I'm really trying to say Just ignore me and I'm sorry for my horrid spelling

This applies to so many things.... I was just recently defending someone who had been (wrongly) accused of racism, and I was attacked for it. I honestly felt like I had become a victim of racism. The person wasn't listening to what I was saying and just making assumptions about me and what I was thinking, and when I said that their attitude was upsetting to me, they pretty much said that my feelings don't matter because I'm white.
.......... *processing* ......... *processing* ................................ WAIT. THAT'S RACIST.

I then ended the "discussion". But damn, did it hurt. I know I shouldn't let some moron get to me, but...I guess it just took me off guard.

Due to America being mostly Christian, it's only logical that Christianity tends to (unfortunately) get more attention compared to other religions/beliefs.

I'm in the Bible belt of the US, so there's much more Christianity than atheism. But the farther up north you get, you find more agnosticism and atheism.

The only way I could love this stamp more was if it had Agnostics in there.

I range between Agnostic Thiest and Methodist Christian and I see so many people who are Agnostics who also act high and mighty now (of course just like all the others there are plenty and I mean plenty of good ones too). The inevitable thing is if there is a group of any faith/belief you're going to have people who act hateful and spiteful. All sides do and will. Some just scream louder then others.

REAL religion is about love. I don't understand why some people don't see that and bash people for their beliefs. I believe if treating others how you want to be treated. I hate it when people get mad at me for what I believe, so I don't get mad at others for what they believe. I still disagree/may not like it/may wish it wasn't there but I keep those feelings to myself, or within groups of people who feel the same. I don't hate. It's just not nice.

thanks for the stamp, by the way.

Atheist have murded in the name of idealism and utopianism; one such dark example took place during Mexico's La Reforma period. Another example of idealist atheism at it's worst was the thermonuclear arms race of the Cold War. Science was going to win over the masses of the planet under threat of thermonuclear might.

...been looking through this comment section
and, MAN! there is some serious debate here >.> Most of it proves you're stamp completely true in the end! ^^ -I didn't look through all of it, since that would take me more time than I could ever have-
Seeing as most people here atheists or Christians, As a -very distant- 3RD party of this particular situation (neither atheist nor christian) all I have to say is:

its impossible to disprove a faith...or lack thereof.... Its like trying to take away inspiration from an artist, or in some cases drugs from an addict (lolz, I iz kidding...kinda)
When people forget that, and try to convince the other side to do their drugs instead, THEN it turns into a giant drug war!
next thing ya' know, they're all chasing their own tails, contradicting each other, and blaming the other side for it.

I, the troll that I am, just enjoy the debate of it all... maybe its just because I'm not the one fighting for anything here, but I have to respect the person that goes so far to prove a belief that they have such a strong opinion for.
On that, I just have to say I am a Lover, not a Fighter......just a Happy Satanist ^^

For me I'm an atheist and I don't believe in religion except you could say science which is sometimes consider a religion base on facts not stories. Also I would rather always listen first to science then religion but I would respect it as long as they don't try to convert me to their religion and they know I'm an atheist because I see that a bit as an insult but I would still act with manner and explain to them why I don't believe in them. And last I actually hate those atheist that are completely an asshole about them being an atheist because that give a bad reputation to me and other atheist, but I understand why they act and think that way because I tend to have that mind sometimes.

I am technically Christian but I lost faith years ago and I’d use to bash religion and argue with people that tried preaching about it I'm much more tolerant now, I let people believe in what they want as long as they don’t shove it down everyone’s throats.

This also makes me think of a verse from a song, β€œWhy does every religion claim to be the only one, how can they preach love yet fight each other holding guns” I think that just hits the nail on the head for religion and atheism, it’s all hypocrisy when you think about it.

Hey, hey, hey ... There's a HUGE difference - Atheists don't have a book that ENCOURAGES and ORDESR them to hate.

Atheists have ONLY ever responded in Self-Defense!
This is extremely inaccurate and helps paint the picture that atheists are unreasonable angry assholes - and that's exactly the image THEY'VE thrown on US after abusing us for not following them.

Atheist hatred is JUSTIFIED, if not the best way to handle things. Religious hatred is DEMANDED OF THE RELIGOUS!

I don't have a religion. I refuse to label myself and fall into any category. I don't care what people believe in. I've known Atheists, Christians, and lots of other such things, so I'm just going to come right out and point out that you're being extremely arrogant.

Yes, Christians often use their bible to justify what they do and why they hate. Many act ridiculously self-righteous and refuse to listen to others, but the same can be said for Atheists.

Atheists hate upon the Christians and vice-versa. You fling insults back and forth needlessly. No hatred is just. Saying that 'Atheist hatred is justified' just doesn't make sense. It's foolhardy.

The behaviour of a Christian may, in part, be blindly guided by the bible, but you cannot just sit there and say that they are, as a whole, hateful. Each person's actions is guided by their own choices. They way they interpret what they read, hear, think, and feel, is entirely up to that individual.

If the Christians choose to take the words of the bible in such context, then yes, some are hateful. But Atheists are just as guilty of misinterpreting things. Many take the words of those who believe and will interpret them in whichever way they please - often times just to start an argument or to make themselves feel as if they are in the right.

Disagree if you wish, this is my own personal opinion.

LimeGreenSquid In reply to HauntedMuck [2012-09-12 16:42:35 +0000 UTC]

All i can say is that everything atheists ever say is in self-defense, because the christian doctrine specifically contains hate-speech about non-believers (psalm 14 and 53) which believers think and follow, whereas atheism doesn't specifically say anything other than, "You haven't proven any gods."
Anything else added onto that is added by the atheist themselves, and when you grow up oppressed, you begin by hating your oppressors: it's a natural instinct, but one that needs to be curbed, because violence doesn't solve anything. I don't hate christians, i hate the doctrine for promoting ignorance and hate. That is what i fight.
It's all about raising awareness. The easier it is for people to see how silly and harmful religious teachings are, the fewer people there will be who are suckered into those hurtful mindsets.
If i take a hit to my reputation because people don't understand the difference between hating doctrine and hating people, then i just have more work to do.
We can't misinterpret something any further than the christian who uses their interpretation to oppress us. It's not our misinterpretation, it's our exposing that there are too many misinterpretations to take any of it seriously, and to end the bigotry encouraged by religious doctrine by exposing it's inherent silliness and hurtfulness.
No atheist doctrine encourages bigotry, because again, atheism is just not having any evidence for any of the gods.
Any further negativity or positivity is added by the individual themselves.

There's a MAJOR difference between people hating you because an ancient book says so, and people fighting against you because you follow an ancient book's bigoted doctrines.

And i NEVER said "on the whole they are hateful," i am just trying to expose to them that they are SUPPORTING A HATEFUL DOCTRINE, and if THEY are not hateful themselves, then WHY are they still supporting it? I KNOW they aren't all hateful, that's what i'm banking on with a question like that: "If you're not evil, why do you willingly support evil? If you are not aware of the harm religion does: here listen to this... Now, why do you still support this harmful system?"
All i get in response is the "rubber glue" argument, "You're being hateful!" Missing the point entirely, and distracting from the topic.
And then people like you in the middle only see that portion of the argument and join the argument on the side of those arguing FOR religious bigotry.
That's what's always confused us about you middle-ground people - you seem to come in at the middle of the conversation, and blame the first person you see who gets angry, and don't even bother figuring out what we're angry about.
You put words in our mouths worse than they do, such as, "But you cannot just sit there and say that they are, as a whole, hateful" to further hinder our efforts for civil discourse between religious people, because they just rally on your argument, because they have no actual arguments.
It's like kicking the black guy because he mouthed off at a KKK member.
Why do you do guys feel the need to do that?
