Hello:

These are renders of the Lynx class Colonial destroyer. A ship I designed originally for the defunct "Battlestar Armada" mod and that now decided to rebuild and make a proper model of it.

No battle can be won with only a single ship. Battlestars, been a mix of fleet carrier and battleship, lack the heavy firepower of a dedicated battleship, lessening it's effectivity in heavy ship to ship combat in the absents of fighter cover.

That is why the Jupiter Project contemplated the creation of two more starship classes to go along the Jupiter class Battlestar, using the same technologies and made to be as durable. One of them in premier destroyer type vessel placed into service by the Twelve Colonies was the Lynx class destroyer. Despite been around half the size of the Jupiter class, the Lynx is much faster, significantly more maneuverable, and was much less crew-intensive so it is able to effectively engage in high speed ship-to-ship combat and protect the Battlestars in fleet opperations, destroying any Cylon capital ship that came between the Battlestars and their objectives.

The Lynx is also one of the most heavily armed warships built to that date, having 16 double-barrel turrets, 160+ pdp guns and 3 silos for nuclear missiles, but the Lynx's main weapons are two enormous weapon pods carrying a double-barrel forward facing KEW each, making it able to deliver enourmous firepower.
