Description
Handle Wrapping Technique: Level 3 (Double Knot Ribbon)And here we have the current handle wrapping technique im using so far for my swords. If your well experienced with handle wrapping you should be able to do this very quickly in 10 minutes. Depending on the width of the ribbon you might need 2 metres or 2 and a half metres long. Heres a tip pull as tightly as possible but as center as possible. Whenever you turn the handle around to do the other side grip the sides of the ribbon tightly and let go when the knot is done.

That look like a very shiny and sleek handle you got there, when you put on handle wrapping on somthing bare like that it will move around alot
invest in ray skin? XD

JoLuffiroSauce In reply to chioky [2008-12-31 16:54:51 +0000 UTC]
rini Skin? and it's siny because when i stripped it entirely and spray painted the entire sowrd. then apply finishing gloss. LOL. but yeah. I kinda thought of that whole mving around stuff. so i'm planning to just apply hot glue to the top and where the knot it. ehough for it to stay without showing too much

I don't know if I can wait that long. The sword is growling from the end of my bed, saying "FIX ME!!" That has me a little worried! XD

This was the first style of handle wrapping that I ever tried. I had no idea what I was doing. . . So it turned out pretty trashy. That's when I took the ribbon off and re-did it.
It's difficult because the ribbon always slides out of my hands! >.<
I'm definitely going to use this tutorial in the future!

chioky In reply to omnicatbus [2008-12-03 15:14:54 +0000 UTC]
Indeed the ribbon always slides around, thats why you do the knot perfectly first time, every time 8D
or you can wait for handle wrapping level 4 XD

If you want to lessen slipping, use cotton ribbon, That's what I use. It's not shiny but it's inexpensive, works good and is easy to clean, plus if you buy white you can dye it any colour you want.

I like the idea of dyeing it, though I am not quite familuar with this process hmm... ribbon cotton in different colours is hard to find XD

You can find it in the primary colours, you have to go to fabric shops.

hazza! I was certain that you would make the level 3 handle wrapping guide eventually ^_^ but the wait was rather frustrating.
and yet I have some questions
will you also teach "single knot"?
and is there a variation where it is removable and rewrapable after?
I'm such a perfectionist that I won't even START a project of any kind unless I'm definitely going to have a perfect and modifiable end product T_T
Has anyone noticed that I'm self-centered and over-opinionated?

chioky In reply to ObsidianGauntlet [2008-12-01 18:51:00 +0000 UTC]
I stick to my deviantart schedule furiously XD
single knot is level 4 handle wrapping which will be uploaded either this week or next week
Level 5 handle wrapping is where it becomes removeable
meh im more of a perfectionist anyway lol

I love and hate it so much!
it looks so nice but if you look away or loosen your grip to much argh!!!
I'll say it once and agian you chioky are a badass.
always making such nice tutorials.

I like to use this method aswell if I want an accurate colour as possible ^^
when doing this technique the tighter you pull until the ribbon starts ripping the better XD
or you could wait till the level 4 handle wrapping 8D
PS: Soo... wanne do the swordmaking meme for fun? XD

-I really thing this 3rd level wrap is most proper for a realistic strong grip after ward it counts on the material used.
-of course, my friend, I shall work on the sword meme includeing a new sword or two.
and I look forward to see your 4rth style of wrapping.
