ahk, my eyes... sorry

your tutorial was awesome, but please and please, change the color of this page (and other), black and purple don't match each other (dark on dark).
i don't know how everyone in this comment don't get bother by that. even for aesthetic purpose, please considering the reading comfort, use light color on dark background

or maybe next time when you are planning on making another tutorial if this is too old for that.(i don't know if anybody have pointed this out and you already change)

I know it's been asked already but I'm still stuck, really hyped to get stuck in, but finding the right sized pine strip is proving difficult, I need it to be the same length +depth but the width needs to be 20 cm (not 9)Β
All pine strips I've found so far are way too thinΒ
Is there any chance you could mention certain websites or stores which you get your materials from?
Would be loads of help and your tutorials are great! Cheers

you will be very hard pressed to find a piece of wood that is thin but also at 20cm wide, 10cm wide is the maximum that I have seen, you will have to make it out of two pieces, so split the blade in half, and jigsaw it together again

cheers
would you still recommend wickes as the supplier as pine stripwood doesn't give any promising results

BTW the reason it needed to be 20cm wide was that I was gunna experiment and attempt Zangetsu but in Shikai formΒ

hello,Β

first I want to say awsum tutorial!

I browsed through the comments but couldn't find an answer so I guess I'm just gonna ask it.

I'm going to make neliel's zanpaktou and so far I've found all the things I need.

I just have the problem that there aren't any stores selling balsa wood, and the thinnest wood I can find beside that is 3,6mm thick.

do you maybe have any idea what I can use instead of the balsa wood?

thank you

chioky In reply to LovingRikkie [2014-02-11 20:51:31 +0000 UTC]

You can ussually buy balsa wood online, you only need one small sheet like an A5 size anyway. If the thinnest wood you can find is only 3.6mm then you need then you are mistakenly finding planks of wood, you need to look for "strips" of pine wood

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

LovingRikkie In reply to chioky [2014-02-15 21:47:41 +0000 UTC]

I did look on internet for it, it's only 1,50 euro for a 1mm plank so that not that bad,Β

but for them to send it to my house is like 8 euro's, the plank is 1meter long so it can't go with letter mail.

I went to 3 construction markets ( not sure if that's a right translation for the word sorry)

I asked there if they had any wood 1 or 2 mm thick but 3,6mm is all they got.Β

I do have another question.Β

is the whole sword 3cm wide (except the tip piece)?Β

I drew it on the wood and in the piece that curves it's getting thinner nearing the tip of the sword

sorry for all the questions

chioky In reply to LovingRikkie [2014-02-16 02:10:25 +0000 UTC]

Β by the time wood reaches the tip the width of the blade should be 2cm from 3cm

Great tutorial series! I'm looking to make a sword following your steps but it would be more of a broad/longsword. What do you think would be the major changes I would have to make to your method?

SARKiSiAN [2011-10-12 17:31:35 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for creating this tutorial! I am trying to make a nodachi sword, (used by Trafalgar Law in One Piece), and its 5 feet long in total length (1' hilt, 4' blade). I have a slight hunch that the width of that sword is a bit wider than 3 cm .___. and the thickness of the blade worries me cos Im afraid if I pull the sword out of the scabbard, the blade will break >< any advice?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

chioky In reply to SARKiSiAN [2011-10-12 20:21:34 +0000 UTC]

the blade wont break coming out of the scabbard as long as there is atleast a 2mm or 3mm gap on other side, thats the answer to your main question
