Snow leopard20" x 25" / 50 x 65 cm
Chalk pastels

This drawing was quite a challenge. Partly because of the format - it's the biggest I've ever drawn before - and partly because I gave myself a deadline of only a week as I didn't want to go back to spending months on a piece, I ltend to lose interest in it after a while when I do that - but mainly because I haven't actually drawn or painted at all in over a year. This is also the first big cat I've tried my hands on, AND my third pastel ever - my first with chalk pastels! All in all, I'm very happy about the outcome.
It's no masterpiece but it's probably the best drawing I've ever done. I'll most likely update this deviation once I get a better photo of it.(HEY! Can you find my signature? It's 'hidden' somewhere in the painting)

Well... it's a large piece, just the framing and matting ended at about $100.

Impressive. Very Impressive.
The rocks surrounding the leopard reveal that it is a painting. I cannot put my finger on it, but it looks somehow odd.
However, ignoring that fact, the leopard itself is brilliant, almost photo like. On the devabulator thumbnail, I was under the impression that it was actually a photo...
Now if only I could be that artisitic... *SIGH*....

the surrounding ground isn't as good as the main focus (imho), but this is no fault. it leads the eye to the tiger. very nice!

This is awesome, like someone has said, but still. The tones of the colours are very nice, the pose too. ^^ And snowleopard are one of my favourites of felines, so that's why I like it also.
