I feel that I'm contradicting myself by shipping USxPH while I have taken my vows to oppose US Imperialism in the Philippines. What can I say, Alfie and Mary looks cute together.
Anyway, this is based from a fic I read from the #hetalia-ph LiveJournal Community entitled "Falling in love with an Angel" which you can read here:

I say bah! To canon basis. U___U I mean, basis, whether it's canon or historical or whatever, is nice to have, but I'm okay with a couple that runs solely on my . xD I guess this is why I don't have an OTP, I like almost every couple. >.<

well, yeah.. it's nice to take a break from historical canons since it gives only a very limited list of pairs.
I mean, I ship RussiaxPhilippines for the same reason you ship PrusLiech, they're so opposite, like sun and snow.
they don't have a historical basis but thy're personalities alone can run the ship.

And personality/character make a pretty good basis too and they make the pairing feel more real. Like, sometimes, history basis makes me feel like the only reason the characters are together is because of what history books say. >.< Not always though (hello, FrUK ;D I hear the Olympics opened with both French and English-speaking announcers!) but it sorta proves that personality can be an alternative to history. U___U That is one of my new Shipping Mottos.

Historical basis, huh... Well, it's true that I can't really imagine both of them together. It just doesn't 'click'... That said, I'll bet you there's some fangirl out there who ships it. Perhaps it's less common to find but I've learnt that in shipping, there could well be a fangirl for everything.

It's historically canon. In 1762 the British troops conquered the capital and some other surrounding cities but after the seven years war ended, the colonized areas were given back to Spain as stated by the Treaty of Paris.
