Description
"The Mighty One, God the LORD,speaks and summons the earth
from the rising of the sun to its setting.
Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty,
God shines forth.
"Our God comes; he does not keep silence;
before him is a devouring fire,
around him a mighty tempest.
He calls to the heavens above
and to the earth, that he may judge his people:
"Gather to me my faithful ones,
who made a covenant with me by sacrifice!"
The heavens declare his righteousness,
for God himself is judge!"
Selah --Psalm 50:1-6

WOW! This sunset is beautiful. It surely shows God's amazing creation.
I love how you named this "the devouring flame." I was reading Galatians and in the Bible they called God a consuming flame, a jealous God. I thought this was really cool

Yeah, it's my personal belief that sunsets like this are there so that they can remind us of God's Creation. If you really love sunsets, come to my gallery, I got quite a collection of sunsets of my local location.

That's downright ignorant. If you can't speak in agreement with the given meaning of the photo, you have no reason to comment.

wow, really, someone comments a picture and you insult them. for a picture there is 1000 words you may sort them for any meaning you wish but you do not insult one for what their believed meaning is. your basically advertising that you have no idea what art is or means but are just about to bother people. I frown at such ignorant beings.

Is he right in his approach? no.
Is he right that there was an intended meaning here? Yes. There was an intended meaning, the one in the artist's comments. Not everything in the art world is relative.
Just to clear that up!

Thepseudoangel In reply to Chrishankhah [2009-01-04 02:31:55 +0000 UTC]
Yes, but the meaning to you is diffrent to what it means to others. There is an intended meaning, yes, thats the meaning the artist sees behind the picture. Although as the views see them, they will get something diffrent, its the magic inside the mind that allows people to take more then one path.

I wouldn't call it magic, but I agree that people perceive different things.
But for instance, if you read something in the newspaper -- you can glean several opinions about the story you read about, and anothers opinions may be different, even contradictory. The truth about the story remains though, and that, that there is only one true meaning.

A person is entitled to their own opinion. I am not a Christain. Does that mean I can't enjoy a beautiful photograph just like you Christains can?
gods, you Christains are stuck up and small minded ...

Well, now hang on. What's up with the generalisation?
To say "Christians are stuck-up and small minded" is just as stuck up and small minded as the accusation. The fact is that we're all human.

lover-of-the-Drow In reply to Chrishankhah [2009-01-03 18:05:27 +0000 UTC]
So far, almost every single Christian I have met has been small minded, and tried to shove their religion down my throat.
Dude! What is UP with that? Do you hear of other religeons doing that? I mean, I'm Pagan for that very reason.I got tired of it... and tired of how I was treated by Christians...
I've watched Christianity ruin so many people. they started out fun and awesome.. but then they got.. TOO much into it... and it ruined their life. From an outside point of view, I see what it's really doing. It's not saving them, it's taking away the fun in life. Life is short! Why not live and enjoy it instead of some "promise" of an awesome "afterlife"? I also wonder what's up with "heaven".. for there is no joy without sadness and no happiness without pain. If everything was perfect.. it'd be so.. boring...
Christianity is a beautiful religion in it's on rights, when done properly. But there are so many people who have perverted it and made it horrible that I can't be a part of it any longer. I'm not saying I hate Christians. I was making an example to the idiot who decided to make a rude comment to me when I was simply enjoying the beauty of a picture despite the obvious "Christian Message" within it.
The "All Human" thing also applies to the guy who commented so rudely back to me. I have to say it offended me, making the accusation that I am "Ignorant" when I knew VERY well what the picture was about. Again, a picture is up to a person's own interpretation. I ask that I not be harassed upon commenting on your photography again. I'm afraid that this whole thing has taken away the original enjoyment I got out of the picture in the first place.
So far, I make my "generalization" from the examples I have gotten.

I don't know if we're agreeing on the definition of "shoving religion down the throat," here. I think Danny thought you were, well, abrasively inserting your paganism here because despite the description's reference to God, you referenced Mother Nature. I'm not going to defend him because I don't think his response to you was approached correctly, but the road goes both ways.
Surely you understand that many of us share the truth about God not to shove it down anyone's throat but because we thoroughly believe it and it is important to us? We do not consider our lives in this world but at the foot of the throne of our Father in Heaven. If the gospel is true, then one cannot get too much into it. It was never about charity work or Christian concerts or accessories that we tote about -- it is that we, an undeserving people, were redeemed and forgiven though we deserved the wrath of God. The Holy Spirit draws us to our Father. We submit our love and full devotion to Him; He is our God.
Dan would be right to say that the picture, as far as my gallery goes, is placed here unto the glory of God. "Mother Nature" has become a rather common term, but like christmas trees, the origin is pagan. I don't consider you rude or ignorant for saying as much (I think, actually, you know exactly what you're saying,) but if you will say it here, Christians will respond about our God. The way they say it may or may not be wrong -- but certainly they have the right to say it. Is your generalisation truly from the examples you've gotten? I know you've encountered =saint-miykael on my site before, and the conversation was deep but not so firey.
You're right. The "All human" thing applies to Danny-Paint. He's fallible. But that's still no grounds for a generalisation. All humans are innately evil -- that statement I can make. All Christians being stuck up? Almost every wiccan I come across seems to like to promote wiccan concepts on my pages. Should I say then, "why do all wiccans like to provoke us?" I know that isn't true.

It is true that some Pagans find it funny to argue with Christains.. me among them XD I'm not actually Wiccan, rather Ecclectic Pagan.. kinda like agnostic I think, following whatever feels right. I've been a far more peaceful person since. ^^

Sorry -- I get pagan and wiccan mixed up, they intermingle enough. But hang on, if you find it funny to argue with Christians, then why are you so upset when a Christian argues with you?
Pagan and agnostic, though ... that's odd? You have multiple gods but you're not sure whether any of them exist? Help me to understand.

I said kinda.. I have many gods, though I follow whatever feels right with me. That's the meaning I got out of it.
And that's ok. ^^ Many do the same. I did when I first got into it too.. ack I was a big bunny XD Knew nothing.
I still don't know that much.
I must admit that while I got irritated with is coment (I wasn't expecting anything from that, with my mention of Mother Nature.. I actuallt did mean Nature itself, and to me eprsonally my goddess.. but it wasn't put there for baint to an argument..
Though the argument was.. granted.. kinda fun .. even though I got irritated.

I knew very well the meaning of the picture. The scripture showed that much. But I don't think I have to accept some scripture if I really don't want to. The Bible has some interesting things, some of them wise. The Demigod Jesus was even an interesting man. Nothing wring with that. I'm fine with your religeon, it just does not fit me well at all. So you go and e a christain and don't shove it at me and accuse me of being "Ignorant" when I was simply stating that Mother Nature is beautiful.

Dont comment on a Christian picture with a non-christian statement. Thats as stupid as walking into a church conference saying "I love the gods!" and expecting to not be consoled/kicked out.

If I originally remember, I said nothing particularly "non-Christain" in my original comment. I've even heard Christains call nature "Mother Nature" before. What, just because I'm Pagan, does that mean I can't say it in the same tone? What if I WAS A Christain? And you said something like that to me?
Think about that, and think before you go leaping into conclusions.

*lays ears back with a heavy growl* I'm not saying it's in the Bible, stupid. I'm saying that sometimesnChristians use the term. I know the Bible better then you think! I was forced to read the damned thing OVER and OVER and OVER ENDLESSLY and allowed to do NOTHING ELSE! It was shoved down my throat from birth.
How would you like it if I downtalked your god? Huh? Would you be happy? Would you be happy if I just up and called you "Ignorant" just because you're not of the same religion as me? Gods, how stupid can you be?
