Originally this was supposed to be a gift for a friend of mine, but some things happened and I stopped working on it for a while. I went back to it a few days ago though and finished it up, ended up getting way crazier with it than I ever meant to. The total time was something like 48 hours when I dumped all the recordings into movie maker. Anyways I loooooooove smash, have loved it since 64. Since melee I have played Bowser, and this newest game is no exception. The person I end up playing the most with mains Charizard, so I thought it would be fun to paint the two having it out in a gritty showdown. Zard's design here is inspired largely by arvalis 's -Charizard-

Thank you! Working on this certainly forced me to learn more about making custom brushes for texturing than anything else I have worked on. Otherwise all those scales would have taken a horrifically long time.

i think the snout for charizard is just a tad too long for its lower jaw, but besides that.

Thanks so much! Yeah he has a bit of a case of overbite doesn't he? You'd think I would have noticed that considering I redrew his mouth a good 3 times, haha. Oh well it is what it is, maybe I'll mess with it and fix it at some point.

Any other day I would have totally agreed with you! But, today at the local weekly tourney I attend there was a charizard player that made it all the way to the finals, who probably would have trounced all over my bowser if I had to play him haha. Goes to show that in this game, if the player is excellent you can do well with whomever you want to play.

Thanks, I'm a big fan of your work! I didn't actually intend for this to resemble your charizard so closely, but it is pretty similar comparing them now. Your stuff has been a big inspiration to me, so that's why that ended up happening I guess. I'll need to be more careful of that in the future.

Yeah I think everyone here would put their money on yoshi being the best because he's got the fire blast. He probably wouldn't even need to smack charmeleon at all but he's going easy.

Not quite! I don't know how I would feel if they did a 180 and made the next game hyper-realistic and gritty. Brawl was pretty odd in itself in that respect, lol.

Thank you! Yeah when I was working on the design of his face (especially around the mouth) I pulled a few references of both turtles and sharks while figuring out how I wanted it to look. Good eye!
