Description Kryten gets a flying lesson from Rimmer from Red Dwarf.

Starbug is one of those really cool space ships that looks really cool while at the same time looks completely butt Ugly. It's also hard to make an "Accurate" version of her considering how much it randomly changes during the show. They even start to make jokes about how its interior layout keeps getting bigger than the outside.

The big sparkler effect is to try and recreate the BBC explosive squib effect.

In other news Red Dwarf X has now finished and personally, its been a mixed bag for me. Episodes 1 and 6 where brilliant. 2 was good, but the rest where quite hit and miss with the punchline of episode 5 being Lister humping a vending machine....

That said I do hope we get a series XI

The JMC must have developed some sort of TARDIS technology to make the inside bigger than the outside. There's no way they could have had that much room inside Starbug all that time they were chasing after the nanobot Red Dwarf.

Cool. Wish I had time to make proper model backgrounds for my stuff. Starbug is easy to model but a pain to texture map - I know! All you need to add is a little Tardis hiding just inside the launch bay like the BBC effects guys sneaked in on the original studio model.

Starbug is a lovely great ship, and better looking I think than Blue Midget, although the original pre-CGI "truck" version was oddly unique as well.

Starbug is kinda ugly, though in a unique way, it's not ugly in the say Stargate SGC spaceships which are more ugly in a 'only humans could have designed it' sort of way.

I like the original blue midget as well, the tracks make more sense to me than the legs that the later ones have.

The tracks especially make sense considering it would have been a mining vehicle.
The Blue Midget with legs just seemed to be trying to be quirky because it could.

Simply 3d is a very old 3d package i got back in 2002. You might have problems finding it and it has performance issues on anything above xp. (i use an old laptop to run it on). I only use it for more complicated shapes like the engines.

Nice video

Already on it.
Thanks for reminding me about this show, can't wait to catch up.
There are some genuinely cool sci fi concepts milled into the humor of this show, in a way that only brits can pull off. cheers, mate.

TV channel 'Dave' did recently air all 8 original series before broadcast series X, but when they did, they showed each series in reverse order as a countdown [VIII to I].

Totally agree with you on X. Trouble is, I think most fans were so hyped about getting a new series that it was OVER expected if you get what I mean. (I started typing this with the exact phrase in my head and now it's bloody gone!!)

As for the pic, classic Rimmer and Kryten humour

Nice work

To be honest I was more worried then hyped after back to earth (admittedly I did like it but it had lost all the sitcom elements)

Cheers

I was prepared for it to be awful (as were many people I've spoken to about it), so it was quite a surprise when it was actually funny. It was hit-and-miss, true, but so is most of the old Red Dwarf! I'm at least happy enough to get a Red Dwarf XI out of it.
