Description While the entire globe becomes locked in ice during winter, as you can see it's greatly different come spring. Forests of blood-colored foliage quickly renew, and the sea level begins to rise as it warms. Due to the obscure color of local foliage, many of the landmasses around the globe are plays on words of blood or synonymous terms. Some areas of interest around the world would include:
.
Galceon: the most northerly region of Ateria is covered in ice for over 90 percent of the year, and its thawing glaciers are largely responsible for the rising sea level. The most remote regions have been frozen for tens of millions of years.
.
Mierna: this northern continent extends below Galceon, and its west coast has an extensive mountain range. These mountains are feeding large rivers, around which are vast forests of burgundy trees. The weather is often brisk and fair, but there are occasionally fierce storms from the west.
.
Hemog: this equatorial landmass is largely dominated by flat marsh, prairie and desert. This region is prone to flash flooding from hurricanes. Thanks to high-pressure air currents midway through the continent, the southern portion is covered in dry prairies of red shrubbery.
.
Nareeal: year-round, this continent is mostly dry and cold. The east side is covered in deciduous forest, and beyond a central mountain range is a vast cold desert. Its northern end is a tropical subcontinent, called Anareeal. Anareeal is very close to Lamerna, forming a narrow body of water known as the Artery Strait.
.
Bloodland: a handful of large islands which are home to thick hot jungles. It is especially warm thanks to currents provided from Apex Bay further south. This is one of the last areas on the globe life retreats for hibernation come late fall.
.
Scarlet Ocean: this warm ocean spawns many of the seasonal hurricanes on Ateria, and it is home to an extreme wealth of biodiversity. It is connected to the Ghost Sea to the east thanks to the Artery Strait.
