Description
Forgive the poor photo. I still have the hardest time shooting my paintings. This was the best one in terms of color, clarity and contrast ..but unfortunately it was also crooked. Β Sigh. Β Anyways, this was a really fun one and came out close to how I pictured it in my head, so that's always nice.Oils on masonite.

super awesome, do you thin out your oils when you do your work?

ChristopherStevens In reply to Abrade1 [2014-08-14 02:57:32 +0000 UTC]
Not exactly. I use a thinner, but that's necessary to keep the paint flowing.

well they look great, the richness in the colors is amazing, I'm sure the camera doesn't do it justice. have you always painted or is just something you enjoy to do as a hobby?Β

ChristopherStevens In reply to Abrade1 [2014-08-15 06:51:37 +0000 UTC]
Thanks. No, I was strictly a line guy for many years and then started using marker and then finally paints came in recent years. Oil painting is mostly a personal Β hobby, but I have been doing some commission work with it, including this piece.

This is awesome! I love the design on the Goblin and his glider. And great job with the details, colouring, pose, lighting and shading.

Thanks. Everyone seems to draw his glider different,so I figured I'd do my own mash-up design too. Glad you like it.

i like the style a lot! spider-man is too often portrayed as being ridiculously muscley, but he's not really supposed to be.
The coloring is wonderful too, it really pops.
my light criticism: the length of spidey's right foot should be the same as his forearm, i realize it's slightly closer to the "viewer" in this pose, but if you look at where his foot bends, his toes would be like 3 inches long.
very stylized, great work!

Thanks. When I draw Spidey, I it as an excuse to go nuts with the proportions. I hold back TBH and could go much nuttier, but I try to resist going too crazy with it. It gets distracting if you stretch things too much.

The crookedness actually works with it being an action scene.
Really cool painting!
