Description This one was a lot of fun to work on. The perspective in the sketch was fun, and so was the background.
All comments and criticism are welcome, like always.
---

Edit:
This is an experiment.
I did a vector trace of the original oekaki in Inkscape, then fixed a few things, and improved a few areas with Photoshop Elements.

The result is a larger, more detailed picture that was made from a simple oekaki.
How does it look?

I can def see some improvements nice
the larger size hasn't blurred the pic, which is great. and I agree, the loss of highlight to the back of the boy's head looks better and helps show that he's close to the front (besides his size & placement showing you alone)
I'd say I can't believe you drew this with a mouse! But that's only cause I can't do much with a mouse. Not only due to lack of experience with it. but my right hand is just not steady enough with the darn thing when it comes to tedious tasks After five years of having to use my right hand, it still doesn't seem 'natural' lol. I don't really think it'll ever really feel right, but it's getting better

Thanks.

With a mouse, I can draw from anywhere. Not just at home, by the tablet.
I actually find my mouse much easier to work with than my tablet. It's easier for me to draw straight lines and detail with my mouse.
I'll get used to that darn tablet eventually, though.

Having to draw with your off hand must make things difficult. I know I'm rather uncoordinated with my left hand for most tasks.

a tablet does take some getting used to. It's closer to using a pen and paper, but it's still,, weird
It tis a pain. But it's getting better. The darn thing doesn't shake nearly as much as it used too and no longer subconsciously biting my tongue as I try to focus is a big help as well LOL. Honestly, it seems so backwards. I don't see why most people naturally go to be righties. I like to see where I’m going, not where I've got so far. I can pause to take an overall look if that's what I'm wanting to see

I love the new program you are using it gives more life to the picture and the person looks a whole lot better now that the highlights are not to bright! Amazing work!

Thanks.
Those were some of the little fixes that I was able to do.

I think this experiment turned out well.

Yes it really came out well. that program that you used really made the picture look amazing (not that it wasn't cool before)

Great.
So far, I think this experiment was a success.
Maybe I should re-visit some of my other pictures with this method.

I'm a bit jealous at you being so good but well I guess it did take time to get there as well

It did take some practice.
I just did my best to pick up techniques from tutorials and art. I'm still trying to improve.

Anyway, I'll do my best to give you some tips.
If you have any questions, just ask anytime.

:] no problem. i also forgot to add i really like the lighting on the dragon on the right something about its simplicity is really appealing

StormyB In reply to ??? [2009-06-08 12:54:17 +0000 UTC]

I love the aurora borealis look you have going in with the sky !! I like the tones of blue you used as well, and of course, the lighting is great (imo)
only thing that seems off to me, is the front dragon's right hand. well, idk, maybe you wanted it facing palm up? cause that tis how it looks to me.

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

Chromamancer In reply to StormyB [2009-06-08 14:23:15 +0000 UTC]

Thank you.

I think that is the angle I was trying for. It's how my hand usually ends up when I do that.
Or sideways, with the palm inward.
I usually use my own hands for references.

Ooh, wow, beautiful work. I really love the look the limited colors give this.

Great work on the dragons! There's a lot of detail on the near one. Plus, you can clearly see what parts of it are closer than others.

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

Chromamancer In reply to Zeimyth [2009-06-08 11:59:44 +0000 UTC]

Thanks.

I drew different parts of that front dragon on three separate layers when working on this picture. It made it relatively easy to keep track of what's in front and what's in back.

I love the perspective on the dragons the only thing that is bothering me is why are the lines so dark on the person? Amazing drawing this one really makes the picture come to life with the sense of movement!

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

Chromamancer In reply to kalizin [2009-06-07 16:56:59 +0000 UTC]

Thank you for pointing that out.
I'll try to watch out for that later.

I might even be able to make a few quick fixes tonight, and update the file.

bisous-noirs In reply to ??? [2009-06-07 15:50:34 +0000 UTC]

I'm in love with this, you have such an amazing talent and this picture is once again proof of that. the milky mix of blue is akin to the ethereality of the aurora borealis, the lighting on the foremost dragon and the trees are enchanting. the only thing I'd point out is the solidness in the person's silhouette, and the random highlight at the back of his head. other than that this is fine piece

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

Chromamancer In reply to bisous-noirs [2009-06-07 17:00:33 +0000 UTC]

Thanks you very much.

I'm currently planning something interesting on this picture. I did a vector trace earlier, so I was able to make a much higher resolution Photoshop file out of this.

I'll probably fix a few things, add some more detail, then upload a higher resolution image based off of this.

This is soooo pretty! The mystical glow in the sky and the lighting on the objects in this scene is well done! I can actually see the dragons moving

I figured drawing a few in there would make it more lively, and add a bit of depth.
