Description
Finally done with another piece of art.I made the sketch for this one last year, but couldn't seem to finish it. The perspective is extremely challenging... I liked the idea a lot, though, so I saved the sketch, and finished it up. It feels like a personal triumph to complete it, and hopefully shows a bit of progress, too.
Now, I'm looking forward to trying a few exercises that I've been planning, for a while.
Enjoy the art!
Comments and criticism are welcome, as always.

Thank you.
I think it's an idea I'll have to try again, some time. It was quite a challenging perspective to work with.

This looks really awesome, I've never seen a drawing from the point of view of a dragon rider before!

Okay, to put it very very very mildly.
This is awesome.
Seriously I haven't seen a picture from this perspective before. A POV of a dragon riders, that's something new. And coupled with your usual great style this is an amazing piece. Can't find a flaw to criticize about it.

I legit had a dream like this once. I was a mailman-er-mailwoman? But I rode a dragon around and it was amazing. Not to mention that the perspective on this is off the charts. I suck so hard at perspective you have no idea.Β

Have you ever flown before? With the stick in one hand, throttle in the other, soaring through the open skies...
I'm training to become an airline pilot. For half a year, I've been stuck on the ground, studying the theory in school, right next to the airport.
And just today, I found myself at the controls again, up in the big blue at last.
I hope you too know what this feels like. If not, I hope one day you'll get the chance. Take it. It's one of the best experiences in the world.

Nice.
It reminds me of one of the very old Dragonlance games where you play a dragon rider. And yes there were also flying castles.

Good to see your art again !!Β This piece is really awesome !
It will be cool to see more "Point of view" art like this on DA
You're really mad with details ! On fullscale, we can see all the details you give to "background" things (Thanks to copy/paste, resize and rotate functions for the birds, you have to admit it !! Β )

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoy this piece.
It was really a challenging one.
Yep. I made a brush for the birds. I admit that.
I was just about done with the picture, and thought that it needed... a bit more life in the setting. They were sort of a last minute addition, but I think they add to the picture.
If they're distracting, I may make an edit, and give them a little update, though.

With a picture of this size, you can't do all the things by hand, except when you're paid and have all your day time for this
It's not a bad point. Don't worry about that
I've just see the trick !

Thanks!
The perspective was very difficult, but the idea and challenge were too fun to pass up on.

Well, it looks good I know what you mean. I might not be an artist with art, but I write and it's always nice to challenge yourself to write a situation/scene you're not used to. Or a type of character you'r enot used to. It's fun^^

Thank you!
Since I made the first sketch, I probably had to re-draw everything at least once...
There were so many perspective errors at first. I'm glad to hear that it works well for you.

The perspective turned out beautifully! I've only attempted this viewpoint maybe twice, and I pretty much abandoned both pieces. It's way more difficult than it seems!

Chromamancer In reply to SharonIllumined [2016-06-02 13:22:01 +0000 UTC]
Indeed.
That's a big reason why I couldn't finish this, after I first made the sketch. Everything was re-drawn at least once...
This is definitely the most difficult perspective I've attempted, so it's good to hear that it is looking good.
