Finished!I think most of you will see which one is the king.
I posted a WIP for this a while back, and I've been making changes to it since then. I decided to use the dragon, but add some more symmetric foreground elements, so the piece as a whole doesn't look off balance. I think the final composition turned out well. The converging lines in the background were especially fun to work with. Warm color schemes are addictive, too.
This piece was quite a lot of work.
I always want to make each piece of art I make better than my last ones, and one way I go about that is by putting some more time into the details.
This one went through several different revisions, but after spending so long on this picture, I think I'm in the mood for some quicker pieces next. This one had over 100 layers.
That may not be the pinnacle of efficiency, but at I am proud of the final result, so the time spent was worthwhile, in my opinion.

Anyways, I think you improved on my last suggestions. The gold in front now looks fine. As for the curvy arm/leg bands... well they still kind of look a bit like stickers stuck on but they are much better! To pull them off perfectly would be very challenging and the only thing I can think of would be to do a real life study with similar pieces. All of your other metally bits are quite superb though!

I tried applying the same shadow layer that was on the arm and tail on those pieces, and it did help them fit in a little better, but at the expense of some of that metalic shine. In the end, I ended going with this, to make them stand out a bit more. Maybe a halfway compromise would have worked better. I'll just have to practice on more metallic pieces.
I really should get around to making some things. I found a good way to print postcards, and playing card mats from that other piece... Now I just need to actually do it.

Good grief, you've outdone yourself yet again, Chromamancer! Amazing sense of perspective, looking up into the scene. And personally, I think the coloring is perfect. Like somewhere in a desert sunset.

Like usual, I tried several different color schemes on this piece before uploading, and I think this unified color scheme had the most impact out of them.

I have no idea...
I've been working on it for weeks. Not all the time, of course, but there's still quite a time commitment in there.
There were always more things to improve and edit. It is much more satisfying to submit something when it's done, as opposed to way too early, though.

Well, when I post art, I try not to explain the piece itself too much. I always enjoy seeing what people get out of them. I think that lets people fill in some details and background with their own imaginations well.
Politics wasn't a theme I was aiming for when I drew this one, so seeing that interpretation was rather fun.
