Description An animated version of my GM-7 Gauss Magnum

The animation shows:
1. The weapon firing 7 rounds (notice the hexagonal shield protecting the user's hand from the energy released)
2. Magazine reloaded
3. Battery reloaded

My Gauss weapons are what I imagine UNSC weapons to be like in the year 2669 - a number you get by adding 117 to 2552 - the Master Chief's service tag and the year the year Halo is set in. I also like to think of Section 8 and Halo being set in the same fiction, with Section 8 being set in 2669 so that their fictions can remain individual without being messed up by each other.

Edit: sorry if you get a slow frame rate, it played twice as fast in fireworks but seems to lag on the internet.

i think that would be a Rail Gun Magnun.

looks like it might but the bulky parts are there for the capacitors, the actual magnets for the design are inside the outer shell and are looped around the barrel

Why would it have a magazine AND a battery? As far as I know, the theory behind a gauss weapon is superstrong magnets spiralling and shooting a projectile at high speed, so a battery is totally unnecessary.

the magnets have to be powered, having normal magnets and not electromagnets would just make too many problems to resolve, like how do you control the force of the magnet and decide when it should be on or off which you cant do with a normal magnet. also I don't think non electromagnets can produce much force which would not be good for a weapon.

Definitely a cool design and concept.

But I doubt it would take the UNSC or ONI over 100 years to create this kind of tech.
Especially since they've already developed the Gauss turret.
Plus the Human/Covenant war is over and they can focus on rebuilding and creating new tech, with the help of the Covie Separatists.

it would take a while to downsize the tech behind the gauss hog turret, plus the turret was designed before or during the war, at a time when humans had a greater population and had more intact resources

True true.
I just thought it might be easier for Humanity to focus on rebuilding and making new tech, with the war being over. All they have to deal with right now is the Covenant remnant, Onyx and the true origins of the Flood, and only the first two are an immediate threat.

I guess so and I believe Misriah armoury is still intact which is where the UNSC manufactures most of its weapons so there's that too, it just depends on whether weapons are researched there as well as created.

Yeah it survived the invasion of Mars. So they have that as well. ^_^

Gauss pistols are actually easy to make... but this, this is a whole other story... extremely high velocity rounds fired from something like that, so low in profile...

is it possible to add a silencer to this & the rifle?

Not sure, from what I've heard though supersonic, or in this case hypersonic bullets, still make a lot of noise when fired so even if you could attach a silencer to this weapon it would probably be pointless. Then again I have said that these weapons are from the year 2669 so there might be some new way to silence guns by then.
