now burning the kitchen down would be very impressive when the only heat needed is for melting chocolate and butter

These look yummy, but...they aren't real cheesecake. Real cheesecake is baked, and has eggs in the filling. The filling in these is pretty much just cream cheese icing, like for a red velvet cake.
Not that these don't look delicious! It's just that anyone expecting these to magically turn out like cheesecake will be disappointed :/

It is called a no bake cheesecake. no bake cheesecake is the most common type of cheesecake in my country so in UK terms it is and does taste exactly how it is supposed to. Each countries idea of what a cheesecake is differs greatly, some places even use cake as a base instead of biscuit.
I also make baked cheesecakes, other than the texture i don't think the taste is too different depending on what flavour you are going for. I know lots of Americans who make for example oreo cheesecake and absolutely love it, i have never heard someone say a no baked cheesecake is not a cheesecake even from the US, each to there own i suppose

This is a perfect recipe! I don't have an oven in my flat (I'm a university student) so I'm constantly looking for desserts you don't have to bake. These look amazing.
