Description
Created for the Born of the Gods (Theros) set of Magic: The Gathering. Decided to take a more illustrative approach to the flames instead of a strictly realistic one. Debatable whether it's "better" this way but it was fun to do. I didn't know the card mechanics below while making the card but I think it fits pretty well.Rare: Deal 5 damage to target creature or planeswalker then scry next 2 cards.

The blue threw me off a little because before reading I thought it might be a multicolor spell. Everything else makes perfect sense for what the card does.

As for the flames- I'm a fan of the illustrative approach- it really reminds me of the classic MTG illustrations, before they became hyper real and super rendered.Β Very nice.Β (I think they convey more feeling this way, too.Β There's something about taking this approach that allows you to paint more than the eye can see- what we sense.)

The fire effect makes it all the more hectic, if not closer to the real thing. Looks like it would deal serious damage just by looking at it.
