Description At long last I can show an illustration I've done for Magic: The Gathering CCG. Having completed it last September I couldn't release it till the company made it public which they recently did by showing it on small advertisement for the New Phyrexia set. Apparently they're having a Game Day June 11-12 and my card will be free if you go. That's pretty cool.
I'm currently working on my 13 and 14th cards but this was one of the two firsts that I did and also the only full card illustration.
The brief was that she's a priest that's been taken over by the Phyrexia and now lives to cast blessings over the furnace fires.
Looking at it now there's a lot I would differently but it's still a solid piece and I'm happy with it for the time I was at.

This art is so badass. So much better than the art on my priest of Urabrask

I like the phyrexian symbol in the flares on the right was that intentional? or is it just a part of the markings that are flowing around

Every element of this is dynamic in some way, from the pose to the lighting to the flames. It's fitting. Well done!

A very impressive creation from such a short description, I would have never though of anything like this, a interesting and dramatic creation, the piece is quite surreal, almost peaceful despite the chaotic nature of fire. Well done, keep it up.

Very vibrant colors. I have to ask if you use the pre-made color palette provided in PS or if you mix an on screen palette like tradition?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ClintCearley In reply to CiTiZEN-No9 [2011-09-18 15:08:03 +0000 UTC]

I do use the pre-made swatches plus a custom set. The customs are the same as the pre-set but with 50% color saturation. After establishing the major colors in the piece I'll just eye drop the color I want from the canvas instead of going back to the swatches.

Yes, they had a Game Day to promote the release of New Phyrexia and this card was given out to those who participated.
