Description
The female Allen's hummingbird backs her way out of a palm flower, about thirty feet above the ground in Marina Del Rey, California. She is not an easy capture, but I keep trying, with every variety of shutter, F stop and ISO. I hope to upload more of her.Related content

Excellent moment in time. Very well captured. You caught her coloration in a wonderful light.

We think she's pregnant. She built one nest, then another slightly higher up in the same tree. She was born last spring, so she's new at this. I have not seen a male, so she may be trying to attract one to mate with, if the fertilized eggs are not yet present. I do not know much about the species, but I am learning fairly quickly as I observe her. The nest is in a very protected location. I don't think you have the Allen's up there where you live, do you?
