Hi Madeline. Yes, this is a first year female cardinal raised by her parents in my garden last summer. I feed the cardinals special cardinal food that is enriched with vitamins, and they become healthy looking models for me to photograph. I watch them constantly, and love them like pets. When spring comes and they pair up to breed, they will move away, but then they will return with their chicks and feed them from the bountiful seed. I pay for the seed partly with proceeds from cards that I have made from photographs of birds, including themselves, so they are self employed, in a sense.

Wow, I can see why you like cardinals so much! I wasn't aware of all their colors. aww, that's awesome.
