edit 4/21/2020 - i dont agree with this take anymore. im not active on this account & havent been since 2017 so ive just never gotten around to adding this addendum to the description. i'll leave it up, y'all can still use it, but i'm not transmed anymore, infact since im cis i never should have involved myself in trans discourse in the first place, but i was young, i was i think 14? maybe 15 when i posted this, you live and you learn. i'm 18 now and i know a lot better than i did. so... yuh. use this if you want, don't if you don't, but this is not a take i agree with anymore lolif you think you don't need dysphoria to be transgender or nonbinary, you're implying that you woke up one day and made a choice to be transgender or nonbinary. trans and nonbinary people experience dysphoria. while it might not always be Self Hate™, it's awful based on my encounters with trans/nb people. dysphoria comes in many different forms, it might just be severe discomfort with your genitalia or it could be as extreme as wanting to mutilate your body. if you believe that you don't need dysphoria, you're making actual trans and nb people look like a joke. i don't care if you think this makes me "TRANSFOBIK!!!!!!!!!!!!!11!!1!!!!one1!!!!" because, as i said, if you seriously believe that you don't need dysphoria, you imply that being transgender or nb is a choice you can randomly make. tucute are the reason that idiotic genders like "cancergender" have appeared on this website.

Being trans means the gender you were assigned at birth doesn't match the gender you feel.
Gender dysphoria is feeling an intense discomfort because of it. Whether it be physically/socially/etc.
Not everyone feels that intense discomfort, but still feels like their gender doesn't match what they were assigned.
There's also a thing called gender euphoria that people seem to forget about.
You don't need dysphoria to be trans.

im genderfluid, but just because i was born a girl and feel more "boy-like" doesn't mean i can't still dress girly and wear makeup, it's more so i just dont like it when people call me a girl, or use a feminine name with me. i get what you meant with your description, i just think it could be worded a bit better, since (and i know you've cleared this up in the comments, and i respect that) it seems that you think people can only be trans/nonbinary if they suffer from physical dysphoria. other than that, great stamp, and i totally agree!!

tbh, dysphoria varies from person to person. some trans people may be 100% comfortable with their bodies but other things like their given name, pronouns, and clothing makes them dysphoric. so yeah that does qualify in mh book. but believing you can wake up one day and decide to be trans is not dysphoria.

Excuse me, I'm a nonbinary person with diagnosed gender dysphoria (by both a therapist and a doctor) and your tucute shit is disgusting. You can't wake up one morning and say "Yep, I'm trans now" it doesn't work like that. Most trans people know they're not cis by age 4-9, so for a 13+ year old to suddenly get the bright idea to say they're trans is offensive as you can get.

Looking back, I realize I had symptoms of dysphoria when I was around 4-6, I went through a hyper-feminine phase when I was 7+, experienced a fuckton of dysphoria when I was going through puberty, and many years later I have realized that I am not cis. This doesn't make my identity invalid. You can experience dysphoria and not know/be in denial that you're trans/nonbinary.
Setting a deadline for when you have to know you're not trans is stupid. Some people realize that they're not cis in their middle age or later due to being raised in a transphobic environment as a child, and unconsciously suppress the feelings.
So yeah, you got me. I guess I'm "as offensive as you can get" for realizing I was trans after learning about gender nonconforming people from the internet way after your neat little deadline. I didn't know that what I was experiencing was dysphoria until I heard other people's stories.
I agree that people saying that they're trans just for attention is offensive and harmful to people who are actually trans, but your argument has some holes.
