This incredible necklace is made with actual beetle wings - that are naturally a brilliant chrome green colour. They are "green Jewel Beetle" wings - from the family Buprestidae and have been used for hundreds of years as jewelry. This is the much more updated use of them - a combination of cyberpunk meets steampunk and goth. I'm certain some might find wearing beetle wings a bit scary but they are so beautiful and truly unusual.Although these are real insect wings - or elytra - they are quite sturdy. I had to drill through them. The three wings have been decorated with star-shaped washers that look a lot like gears. There are smaller black washers inside them.
The wings hang down from beautiful black onyx set in sterling silver.

Absolutely gorgeous. I love the color play on the wings. I have a pair of earrings made from these same exact insects - mine phase from a usually green 'base' with blusih to reddish highlights, depending on ambient lighting.
Very tasteful distribution of negative and positive space with the beads and danglies; the entire design + wings is very balanced. Nice chain work and great choice with the onyx.

someone was selling a bunch of them and i bought them all. they do show up on ebay-sometimes. they are just sooo beautiful.
