Hi there! Thanks for the tutorial on how you made the whale avatar.

Well, I'm here to inform you that I have made one myself but in a different color.

Don't worry! I credited you for the tutorial. I hope it's okay with you. ^_^

Here's the link to the one I made: [link]

If I may use this tutorial to draw my own whale, with my own touches, would that be ok? I'll be adding a sailor's hat and somehow an anchor, maybe as a tiny tattoo xD
I assume that's what the tutorial's for but I wanted to ask first!

I think you go up to edit or summin' like that, and it should say 'opaque' or 'transparent' (I think). Make sure that there is NO check next to opaque.

Hi!

I'm afraid MS Paint does not support transparency so you may need an other software to achieve it. If you operate MS Windows and an MS Office version lower than 2003 you may be able to spot the MS Photo Editor which comes with it. If not, you may need to use Photoshop or other software that supports transparency.

If you're using MS Photo Editor you may do the following:
This can be done by the means of Set Transparent Color tool and then save it as .png file.
>>>Be careful though with colours that may also exist in other parts of your work, beyond the one you want, which you need to keep not transparent! For example, if your work's background is WHITE but also other parts contains this colour too, then when selecting white colour to be transparent all parts that contain this colour will be transparent!!! Not good! A trick I usually do for setting the background transparent is to colour it with a unique colour (a colour that does not exist in any other place in your work) in MS Paint before opening it in MS Photo Editor. So when selecting this unique colour I only select the background and nothing more. Without a doubt, it demands some extra work :S

There are some freeware programmes in the Internet that are probably better than MS Paint and may provide you with extra features, such as transparency.
One I found recently is GraphicsGale Free Edition, which enables you to retouch a photo, paint a picture, and so on. Unlike most bitmap editors, GraphicsGale can make an animated image with seeing its preview. This feature must be useful for making an animated GIF or a video game character. Unfortunately, The trial period of shareware edition is 30 days!

I hope these will do! Thnx so much for commenting!
