Very cool style! Almost reminds me of Joe Matt or Chester Brown. Do you like those guys?

No? They're really great and do some very funny stuff. Who are you influenced by in your drawings? Do I see some Gilbert Hernandez or Robert Crumb?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

cluedog In reply to pokemonthrway [2020-04-22 09:35:59 +0000 UTC]

Definitely Robert Crumb, as well as Wil Eisner, Sergio Aragones, Carl Barks, Bob Clampett, and John Romita, Sr.Β  Β So many great cartoonists out there!

Cats are the least trustworthy creatures, so tying them up should be a priority!Β  Those things are devious forces of nature!

Your pantomime is on point, these are some excellent poses and expressions! And that camera angle in panel 2 is to die for.

I always thought that the gag was meant to muffle any attempt at speech, so that it would be harder to hear them shouting for help--or secondarily to prevent them from attempting to bite their assailant or to use their teeth to undo the bonds on their hands. But yes, using duct tape or similar would be more effective than a cloth tied over the mouth.

He's cutting the flow of oxygen to the landlord's brain, rendering him unconscious. More than that, it's just a cool, creepy visual!Β

I would suspect it is part of the act of securing the prisoner or victim, to make the audience feel more sympathy for the person or persons involved while building some sense of drama and tension.

Wow, thank you, Curt!Β  I try my best.Β  I've always loved realism in art and I've been working on that for some time in my style.Β  However, cartooning is in my DNA and where I'm at my most comfortable.
