Description
This is my first attempt and try out of Ultra Fractal as I want to understand the program better and expand my level of skill to other programs and not just apophysis. I crave knowledge. I know my first one sucks major but I am open to any and all tips if your willing to give them out.

At the risk of stating the obvious: *do* use the tuts in the UF HelpFile. Personally, I had to read 'em, try em, go away and play around myself for a while and then my second attempt with them was more successful. Just as well, cos I'd nearly decided to give it up altogether.

If you decide you;re going to stick with UF for the long run, then I'd heartily recommend the courses tutored by Janet Parke at the Visual Arts Academy [link]

Looks good to me although I'm only a third of the way into a trial version and hardly in a position to judge
UF is certainly more challenging than Apo, but I'm having bags of fun trying to work out all the different functions. I definitely will be buying it with the next bit of spare cash I can lay my hands on

hey I just started UF ..hmmm..mid december - and Yes I was a '
asking tons of questions - very basic questions, even the terminology
is slightly different then apo ...so I had to learn everything.
To think about it - there is no tuto for - 'when you first open UF'
hey maybe should make one since the process is still fresh in my mind
Ok if you need any help or have really basic questions I'm willing to
help out 
there and she has some live tutos planned as well

I have a trial version of an old UF with lots of Help notes attached which explain everything from the beginning. Perhaps you haven't that.

I have the new animated version ...it has help notes and
even build in tutos and still you gotta find things around

I've been thinking about UF as I see the remarks people make.
The only person who says it is easy is ~Xantipa2 .
Considering that she manages to use everything so wonderfully, I tend to think that what other people say, that UF is rather long to learn, and seeing what I have of it so far ... I don't think I shall buy it.
I have Fractal Explorer and am familiar with Mandelbrot based fractals. I'm not really fond of them. I prefer the flames of Apophysis.
If I could believe that I could eventually become as good as some fractalists, and if I was younger maybe I'd go for it.
As it is ... No!

Ohhh that's to bad, Well I always wanted to try UF.
I saw so many intricate pieces come out of that program and the temptation was always
there. Honestly I love it, maybe because I'm use to layering system which is very similar
to photoshop my fave tool of trade for graphics.
And I read the tutos on DA - one of the most important onces was masking - now it seems
like all the 'doors' open and I'm having grand fun !!!
