Description Here is the third art piece of my Hyperdimension Neptunia characters drawn in a Sonic the Hedgehog style series, and this time we’re taking a detour from the main goddesses to some of the unique goddesses of the Ultradimension, Plutia and Peashy.

If you want to know more about how I came up with this series, read up on the description of the first “Neptune and Nepgear the Hedgehog” piece (link below). Since Plutia and Peashy aren’t sisters, they were planned to be different animals. So, let’s start with Plutia.

So, I mentioned in earlier pieces what my plan was with selecting the animals to be for these characters. They were supposed to be based on animals mascots from the consoles these goddesses represent. The Planeptune goddesses were hedgehogs based on Sega’s Sonic the Hedgehog, and the Lastation girls were based on PlayStation's Crash Bandicoot. But if you couldn’t tell, that’s not what I did for Plutia.

You see, Plutia is a Planeptune goddess herself, just from a different dimension. So I was like, “do I really want to make Plutia a hedgehog too?”. I decided that no, that would be too easy. But I needed to decide what to base her animal-to-be choice on instead. I thought about maybe picking a different Sonic character to use instead, like making Plutia a fox based on Tails, or an echidna like Knuckles, but I felt those didn’t fit her. So instead, I picked an animal that would best fit her character. And sloth just fit her so well, since Plutia is known to be a sleepy character (no, I did not consider her HDD personality, since I’m not doing the HDDs for these goddesses).

As a fun little side-note, Plutia has been done for a while now, because I wanted to draw her for my mom. You see, my mom absolutely LOVES sloths. She has tons of plushies of them in her room. And I wanted to make something for her on her birthday, and then almost a month and a half later, Mother’s Day, but I wasn’t able to. So as a late gift, I draw up my Plutia the Sloth part of this piece, just before doing Noire and Uni, for my mom to enjoy as a sloth lover. I did mention Plutia’s sadistic dominatrix HDD form, but I don’t think she cared, and I sure didn’t, because again, I’m not doing the HDDs. (And thinking about it, I’m not sure if I would’ve easily picked sloth for Plutia if my mom didn’t have so many plush toys of them. It’s not an animal I think much about.)

Going back to the piece itself, when selecting the references for Sonic sloths, my mind went to the old “Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog” show, where they had a family of sloth characters, including one named Rocket. But looking him up, I also found a sloth character from the Archie comics known as Moss. I’m not personally interested in the Archie comics, but seeing Moss, I thought he was cool. Looking him up, he’s that old mentor type of character, but is apparently agile enough to traverse his jungle home fast enough to keep up with Sonic. Anyways, I ended up using both Rocket and Moss as references, but I think used Moss a bit more. He’s more up-to-date for what I wanted.

And just for fun, I turned Plutia's bear slippers into sloth slippers. Because I can!

(Also, looking up “Sonic Sloth” to find these characters on Google Images, I have found out that that is the name of a band, for whatever reason. And no, I did not listen to their music. I’m not that curious.)

And the last thing to mention with Plutia is her doll. She is known for making dolls of her friends, ...and for using them as weapons, both smacking her enemies around, and using voodoo magic (while also being oddly strong with them, considering she’s not one of the powerhouse goddesses). I know that I said I wasn’t planning on drawing these characters with their weapons, but the dolls are an important part of Plutia’s character, and more than just weapons to her.

In official artwork, Plutia is usually seen with a Neptune doll, so I wanted to mix things up by drawing her with a Nepgear doll instead. I also tried to mix the Sonic style with the style of her dolls. I think it looks pretty interesting, all things considered.

So, now on to Peashy (or as I call this version of her, Beeshy!), and oh boy, the decision on the animal for her to be was ABSOLUTELY FREAKING PERFECT! So, while Peashy is a Planeptune goddess (by adoption, I guess), she doesn’t represent a Sega console. Instead, she represents the PC Engine, or as it was known as here in America, the TurboGrafx-16, which was an old console made by Hudson Soft (and yes, I, like many others, thought Peashy was supposed to represent PC gaming at first. That is not the case).

I’m not too familiar with the console or its games, but while I tried to look at its game list to find an animal mascot, it wasn’t really necessary, since Hudson Soft’s animal mascot is a part of its logo: a bee. And Peashy just so happens to already represent that animal. Her outfit is in the style of a bee, and said outfit is named “Mr. Bee”. So of course she would be a bee (and yes, I see the pun there). And putting a bee in a bee-like outfit is kind of funny.

But this is where it gets amazing. Think about it, I’m drawing Peashy, a 5-year-old, energetic kid, as a Sonic-styled bee. Well, in the Sonic series, there is Charmy, a 6-year-old, energetic kid who just so happens to be a bee (there it is again). Doesn’t that line up SO freaking well. That’s why this was perfect!

To finish off, I know Peashy has cat paw boxing gloves in her game portraits. I thought about mixing that in, like giving her some cat accessories (not actual cat traits), but I decided against it. I figured that using her anime version, where she doesn’t wear them, was better. We didn’t need to mix cat stuff in this.

Also, the background I found is so fitting of Iris Heart. I’m glad I found it!

So, one more thing, not about this piece but related to it. I already mentioned that I will not be doing the goddesses HDDs for this series. But a while before I even decided to make this series, I was considering drawing some of the Hyperdimension characters as Gizoid Imitators. If you don’t know, my Gizoid Imitators are basically drawings of random characters drawn as a Gizoid, a type of Sonic robot. This includes many goddesses in their HDD forms.

So, as a companion piece to this one, I am finally doing this. I have drawn Iris Heart as a Gizoid Imitator, an idea I really enjoyed, despite my reservations with her... outfit. Regardless, here's a link:
