Description
When I read the topic I had this kind of strong image of an adventurer of some kind descending down a rope, holding a torch out into the darkness of the save and seeing this huge, alien/lovecraftian head just ... there. As with most spitpaints my process was to pick a limited amount of ideas/thoughts and focus on just those, in this case the spelunking woman and the god's head.

At first I thought I was doing really well on time and started noodling about with random textures, trying to see what felt right, how to get that sense of vast darkness but also that illumination. I think I should've put one more gradient layer set to screen over the torch, and pushed back the contrast of the woman just a bit to help sell that blown out look from the light.

I like adding some kind of noise or texture to my spitpaints, something about the random element seems to help sell the image, like it's not just forms but there's a chance element of some kind playing about, be it clouds or mist, or in this case condensation coming in from around the cave, falling like rain.
