Going into this I had a similar basic idea of what I was hoping to hit but changed it up about halfway through. I originally was gonna have the goddess figure robed and descending as she created the star, but as I started noodling with it the image felt more 'right' to me if the star were above her and she was more celestial and less physically manifested, like part of a galaxy making something new.

The fix was pretty quick and easy, just another layer of gradients covering up the robes, lots of smudge action going on, then snagging the star she was making and duplicating that layer, dropping that below to create that larger orange-red star on the bottom left quadrant. Taking that as a base I duplicated a few more secondary stars, scaling and transforming them as I went along to help create a more defined group of significant stars, figuring I could go back in after the colors were being hit upon to paint in more clusters here and there, eyedropping off of the colors throughout the piece.

The last minute addition was adding a layer of overlay, using big gradients of pink and purple, then inverting it to create this green/yellow hued tint. I adjusted the hue to shift it a bit more blue and lowered the saturation and opacity a touch, I figured the blue + orange/yellow would play on each other enough to create a nice mix while the layer itself would help unify the piece as a whole.

The long and short is that it's a simple piece with most of the time put into setting up enough foundation so I could fudge my way through the colors and add a couple niceties at the end to hopefully sell the idea
