Words Below:
Theresa drove up to the mansion. All the rooms were dark except for a single light in the foyer opposite the front door. Theresa double checked her invitation to make sure she was in the right place and then rang the bell. Johnathon heard her drive up and watched her from the upstairs window. He did not need things like lighting.
Something Johnathon did want was company. When Theresa rang the bell, he arrived in a literal second. He opened the door. It was unlocked because thieves would not be a problem for him. Human nature and formal greetings were not something forgotten and he appreciated the chance to practice them once more.
"Thank you for coming," said Johnathon. He clapped his hands and music started playing.
Johnathan and Theresa were both 22, They had been classmates in college. Although they talked to each other occasionally, they had not done much else. Johnathan had a crush on Theresa but was too shy to admit it. He watched her from afar, disappointed that he was not able to do much else.
Then Johnathan met a woman who appeared middle aged but was actually centuries old. She explained to him that she was a vampire and she was giving him a chance to join them. Johnathan agreed. As a vampire, his skills would be greatly enhanced. However, he did not want to go through the centuries alone. He wanted someone else by his side.
Johnathan remembered Theresa and the multiple opportunities he had let slip past. This was his chance! Without hesitation, he located Theresa and gave her the invitation. She remembered Johnathan and even thought he was cute but she had never given him any serious romantic thoughts, until she received the invitation.
There was something about it that appealed to her. Perhaps it was Johnathan's new found confidence. Perhaps it was something about the invitation itself. Whatever the case, Teresa looked forward to the event with a mixture of excitement and curiosity and arrived at the designated time and place.
Johnathan invited Teresa to dance and the music played all around them. She found him to be quite charming. Gently, he explained to her that he was a vampire and he wanted her to join him. Teresa was stunned. This was an earth shattering revelation. She did not know what to do.
Not wanting to put too much pressure on her, Johnathan told her about some of the things he could do since becoming a vampire and how it compared to being a human. Teresa knew this was a once in a lifetime moment, if she turned down the opportunity she was unlikely to get another. She also knew this really was not about becoming a vampire. This was about Johnathan himself.
"I accept!" exclaimed Teresa, more loudly than she intended.
Johnathan smiled as he sank her teeth into her exposed neck. Teresa felt a sharp pain, but the pain faded mere seconds later. She backed away towards the wall breathing heavily. The changes had already begun.
Her eyes turned a bright red. She found herself able to see small objects far away that she had not noticed before. Her skin color faded away leaving only a pale remnant of what it once was. The tips of her ears sharpened and pointed upwards. Just like her sight, her hearing and sense of smell also greatly improved.
Fangs grew out of her mouth. Teresa felt them with her tongue confirming that they were indeed real. Even her clothing transformed into something more suitable for the occasion. She looked at herself examining all the changes that had happened to her. Then she slowly approached Johnathan once more.
Teresa turned off the only light in the house. Being a vampire she would not need it. She danced with Johnathan as the music continued to play. Both of them could keep dancing for days as long as they did it someplace dark and quiet.
