In the year 2100 Adrian and his friends from high school decided to go to a theme park. All of them were boys. Being on a budget they had to plan things out carefully. They would spend Saturday at the park when they were fresh, the night at a nearby hotel, and then Sunday at the swimming pool.

Adrian enjoyed the various rides on attractions. By the time night came he was exhausted. He fell asleep almost immediately. The next day it was time to relax at the pool. That was when the changes happened.

Adrian decided to show off his swimming skills by swimming to the bottom of the deep end of the pool. The pool seemed deeper than he thought it was. When he, or she, reached the surface, she discovered she had become a girl. A group of girls who resembled her friends were nearby. They called her Angela.

It did not take long for Angela to figure out she had entered another universe where she and all of her friends were girls. She decided to see if she could reverse the process. Once again she swam to the bottom of the deep end of the pool and entered the portal.

Looking around, Adrian saw he had returned to the universe where he started. He told his friends what had happened, but they did not believe him. The only way to convince them what had happened was to get them to actually enter the portal but they did not want to go.

Angela must have had a similar experience so she would believe him. He just needed to find a way to contact her. He dove to the bottom of the pool specifically searching for Angela. At the bottom he bumped heads with somebody and quickly returned to the surface.

Once again she was Angela. However this time, she was still in her own universe. Her male friends were nearby. They called her Angela and seemed to think she had always been a girl. It did not make any sense. The portal did not make any sense. None of it made sense!

After getting some rest, Angela tried to find the portal again but was unable to do it. She was stuck as a girl. She knew in another universe there was a girl who was stuck as a boy. However, that knowledge would not do either of them any good.

Angela found her new form also gave her some advantages. Being the only girl in the group she became the center of attention. Except for some occasional teasing they treated her kindly. They also listened to whatever she had to say. She considered telling them about the portal again but decided it would be more trouble than it was worth.

When Angela returned home, she discovered her parents and other friends also thought she had always been Angela. She searched for her room for any signs of her new identity. As a child she played soccer just like Adrian did but it was on the girls' team. Her interests were similar. However, being a girl closed some opportunities for her and opened new ones.

Just as Angela thought, her new identity was what it would have been had she been born a girl. Except for things specifically related to gender, she already knew what her life was like. She would learn those things in time. She wondered if she would encounter the portal again. Even if she did not, she could easily adjust to her new situation.
