Gabriel was an inventor. Despite his youth, he had gotten a job with Stark Industries. He helped make advanced weaponry, transportation, and other useful devices. His group even found a way to make some of those devices more energy efficient which would reduce overall costs and protect the environment. Although he enjoyed his work on such projects, he hoped one day to lead a project of his own.

One day Gabriel found a crack in the wall. He reached inside and pulled it open. When he did, he discovered a staircase leading to a secret underground lab. He made a mental note to tell them to be more careful, but for the moment his curiosity got the best of him and he decided to explore.

Inside were a number of different Iron Man suits and Gabriel had no doubt this lab belonged to Iron Man. There were also some suits for War Machine along with various suits he did not recognize. One of those suits looked like it was designed for a woman.

Gabriel reached over and touched the leg of the suit. What he did not know was that the suit was filled with nanobots. They entered through his fingertips. In a matter of minutes they had reproduced a thousand times and spread out throughout his entire body. Once the nanobots had sufficient control, they began making changes to his body.

Gabriel winced in pain. He had no idea what was happening to him. He screamed. The scream was much higher pitched than he expected. The nanobots continued working. The nanobots had to make him the right size and shape to fit the suit.

Despite being energy efficient, the nanobots needed energy from his body to make the necessary changes. This caused Gabriel to fall asleep. They went to work reducing his size and weight. He was given a feminine shape and vibrant red hair. Then they changed all sexual characteristics so he, or she, would be completely female. Finally the nanobots created a calming effect so she would not panic once she woke up.

Some time later, the one known as Gabriel woke up. She realized that her name was Pepper Potts and once she was in the suit she would be given the name rescue. She put on the suit and discovered it fit her perfectly. She decided to take the suit out for a test spin.

Although Pepper, or Rescue, knew she should be panicking about what had just happened to her, she felt strangely calm about the whole situation. She could continue to help create new inventions but she could also do some things on her own. Like her name indicated, her job would be to rescue the others if they got into trouble. It did not sound too difficult. She just needed to make sure she knew how to fly.
