Words Below:

Laine was a student at Magic Academy.  One of his teachers gave him the task of communicating telepathically with his family wherever they might be.  As usual, Laine was well ahead of the curve.  He had already contacted his mother and father separately and had a lengthy conversation with both of them.

Plenty of time still remained until his next class began and he found himself quite bored.  Then he had an idea.  There was a legend about Katrina, a previous student who died nearly 40 years earlier.  Nobody knew exactly how she died, just that it was sudden and unexpected.

Communicating with the dead would be far more difficult than communicating with the living.  It would be a challenge, even for him.  If he could somehow talk to her, he would learn not only how she died, but what school was like back in the twentieth century.  It seemed like he had plenty to gain and nothing to lose, so he set to work on it.

When Katrina appeared in front of him, she was still bitter about the explosion that took her life.  More than anything she wanted to live again and Laine provided her with that opportunity.  She entered his body and began making adjustments to her new home.

"What are you doing?" screamed Laine as his voice rose almost an octave.

"Just changing your body so it better suits my needs," she explained.  "Don't worry.  I will not use your body all the time, just an hour or two a day.  Perhaps I can come out only at night when you are sleeping."

Laine felt his body.  His hair had become long and blond while breasts grew out of his body.  It was clear Katrina was changing his body to match her own.   In less than a minute, he, or she, had become fully female.  Her body looked almost like Katrina did just before she died.  Even her clothes had changed into girls clothes, though it was in a modern style.

"What about my needs?" complained Laine with an obviously female voice.  "I do not want my body to be like this!"

"If you can find a new home for me, I'll let you have your body back," insisted Katrina.  "In the meantime, I need to warn people and get revenge on my murderers.  I wonder if any of them are even still alive."

Laine thought with the lifespan of humans, especially ones who knew how to use magic, they would most likely still be alive.  As it turned out, all of them had died before graduation.  One of them screamed something about a ghost which is how the legend about Katrina started in the first place.  It seemed Katrina had already gotten her revenge and had forgotten all about it.

With a sad sigh, Laine understood many humans who used magic died sooner rather than later than regular humans.  This was because they rushed into things without understanding the consequences, just like she did.  It was better to plan things out ahead of time.

Planning things out was exactly what she decided what to do next.  Laine talked with Katrina about how and where to find a new host for her.  Once she had left, there was still the problem of returning her body back to the way it was before.  That would require even more planning.
