Amenii eyed the coffee suspiciously, it looked like coffee, even smelled like coffee carrying the slight whiff of the burn grounds that tickled her nostrils. Nera had even gone out of her way to scribble her a nice note declaring ‘Drink up.’ With a smiling face underneath. Casting a dark look at the bathroom, where judging from the running water Nera was busy getting her morning shower in. A quick look around the kitchen revealed nothing out of the ordinary either, no suspicious bottles in the garbage, no mail boxes that seemed out of place.
Nera had filled her thermos already, presumably with the same pot that sat on the receiver before her and Amenii did not think it likely that she would have gone out of the way to make another batch. Tentatively, she reached out and after giving it another whiff, raised it to her lips, and faltered. Setting the mug back down she swiveled to face the bathroom, the water had stopped. Was she preparing to jump out and yell surprise, if so than the surprise would be on her instead. Amenii waited, nothing, the sound of the hair dryer kicked on whirring away. With a final huff Amenii looked back at the mug before her, fingers drumming. It was a dilemma of epic proportion.

Blowing out a frustrated breath Amenii’s eyes fell on the thermoses before her, a grin splitting her face. ‘She would never…’ Amenii knew all to well how much Nera depended on her own coffee to function, even on the weekend. With a final rueful grin to at the bathroom door, Amenii worked the large cylinder down to her, snapped the lid and took a hearty swig. The flavor sharp and bitter.

‘Bleck!’ She coughed, almost knocking the thermos over. ‘Do you not believe in cream – sugar?’ Amenii hollered at the door.

‘What’s that hon?’ Nera’s voice came back over the noise of the hair drier.

Amenii was about to respond, when an odd tingling sensation formed in her belly, and began to spread outwards. Looking down, she jerked back, upsetting the table as she nearly fell backwards in her shock. Coffee went everywhere, slopping over the table and running down to pool on the floor.

‘NNNnnnnnneeeeeEEEEEERRRRRRRRrrrraaaaaaa!’

The hair drying stopped.

‘You know the other residents have stopped setting their alarm clocks in the morning.’ Nera’s voice drifted from the bathroom, as she pushed open the door a towel wrapped around her chest. Still fixing her damp hair and cocooning it in a second towel she took two steps forwards before her eyes fell on Amenii. ‘Oh…bother.’

Amenii flailed her arms sputtering incoherencies as her head bobbed down only to snap back up to leer at Nera.

‘Coffee…You…You…Fuzzy spotted gargoyle! You… I told you not… my coffee…This had better not be permanent!’

Nera’s expression was one of painstakingly rehearsed patients, as she leaned against the door jam and surveyed her little bunny lover, who, looked like a volcano about to erupt.

‘Amenii dear, why did you drink my coffee?’
