Description This is my entry for *Silvixen 's Dingo Design Competition ([link] ).

I named him "Reddi" because I felt it was a good fit for his personality. When I started, he had just an ordinary smile, but as I designed him, he gradually grew more and more worried looking, so I thought that would make a good personality for him... he can be the submissive / worried member of the pack that's always getting picked on.

The bandage on his tail could be from a previous injury (maybe that's why he's so shy / nervous)... maybe it's from an encounter with humans... or maybe it's just decorative. I was going to attach a feather to his lifted paw to match the feathers worn by the pack leader, but when I finished the lineart, I realized he really didn't need the 2nd accessory. Especially since his nervous personality is already so well pronounced.

Here is the timelapse video (64x speed) of how I made it!

Full-length livestream is here if you want to slow it down:

(also, you can change the name if you have a better one in mind for him)

Well this I did not expect.
That's a fantastic drawing for a start, great to see you back into it. I'd give you a giant comment but I need to be fair to everyone and keep my thoughts under wraps for now.
One quick question, does he have an eye colour? No need to change the image, you can just tell me. It's the sort of thing that's required with my drawing style.
Anyways, great to see this nervous little guy!
Good luck to you!

Hehe, I understand. I mostly drew him for fun anyway - I needed something to draw and saw your journal entry and thought it would be perfect. Didja see the timelapse video yet? It's kinda funny. XD

I don't know about eye color yet... I'll have to play with it and get back to you.

I did see video. It's pretty cool to see your way of doing things. I can honestly say I'd never work the same as you. I don't have the patience and your ways of colouring and inking are foreign to me.
I did note a few needless changes in the sketching period, especially on that front paw. You had it perfect a good four or five times but it kept changing. I guess it comes down to what you think is good.

Yeah, I do that a lot. XD And each line changes like 50 times before I'm happy with it. I try to get it right the first time when I can, but I usually feel the need to alter the weight of the line after-the-fact, which means I have to sculpt it.

Actually, for a while the front paw looked more like a human arm than a dingo paw, which is why I was changing it XD (it was too thick at the wrist, and was at the totally wrong angle for a begging posture) After a while I started just doing it in negative space to get a feel for the 3D shape rather than the lines, since I couldn't figure it out. The twist of the arm was also confusing me.

Even with the crazy obsession, 8.5 hours on a full piece like this is not bad for me! Well, technically it is bad for me, because I stayed up all night to do it. But that's not the point!!
