Description
I made a dragon!Painting experiment, done mostly in Photoshop CS6
I hope to do more digital paintings like this one in the future.
I actually put his scales on backward when I first sketched it and had to fix them when I started painting.

Oh my gosh. I thought this was a piece made from one of the really professional artists I watch. I look at the artist and see it's codefly. What amazing progress you're making! Great work with the shading, the scales, the expression, the glow of the eye, the perspective, the background, everything Since you're using CS6, try to dive into photoshop's textures/brushes. But otherwise, I'm really excited to see where you go from here! How much time did you spend on this?

Thanks!
Actually, it only took about 16 hours which is no more or less time than my "small" pictures usually take (previous 5 pictures took: 15h, 12h, 20h, 13h, 13h)... I saved time by not formally inking, but then spent more time detailing, so it came out about even. Of course, I spent most of my time just wondering what to do next. Adding detail is actually kind of difficult on a dragon with large scales because the scales are mostly smooth.

Oh my gosh! I can tell you spend a ton of work on these, then! That tells me that you have some pretty darn amazing commitment (I know what you're gonna say, it's just your perfectionism).
I could see why it could be tough to add detail to scales. Either way, all that work paid off.
You're probably gonna turn into a super popular fur who gets loaded with commissions and trades, some day. That's always me dream

Haha, I wish. The day someone genuinely wants a commission from me will be the happiest day of my life. Or maybe the most frantic.
But I'm still at the point that only 20-30 people ever even see anything I make.
Yeah, I assume half the time spent on each picture is mostly obsession / perfection related. Most of my commitment though is fueled by the fact that art is the only thing that's special to me anymore and I'm scared to death that I'm never going to be any good at it. I knew that my relaxed "whenever it's done" posting rate of a new picture every 1-2 months wouldn't get me anywhere, so now I force myself to make something new every week. It's definitely helping, but even so, I'm still not sure if it'll be enough to overcome my lack of childhood experience and poor creativity. I'm always afraid I'm going to hit a plateau at some point where I simply can't figure out how to get any better simply because of my background... or the fact that I don't have any training besides watching speedpaint videos and livestreams.
