Well, this thing has like 300 views and like 3 comments, so it looks like you're better at commenting than 99% of people, lol. In any case, I'm really glad you liked it, and took the time to say so.
(Also yaaay, somebody saw the lego!)

Haha, I usually don't comment because I'm a very shy person ^^' but your fic definitely deserves more views and comments ):

(YES, it's super cool! )

At least they didn't run into their reptile versions from alternate dimension. That would have been weird.

Gotta love how little effort future Wendy is putting into keeping her identity a secret. Like I'm amazed she didn't remove her helmet to scratch her nose in the middle of the scene. Too bad there was no scene of future Dipper and Wendy capturing and/or killing the Mommy Shifty. I'm wondering what sort of a face she would have made when she was owned.

No epilogue to tell if their plan of colonizing the moon succeded or if Ford and Shapey buried the grudge? Sometimes an open ending is good and if the couple from future is any indigation they're not doing too bad.

So I guess I should say few words about the fic as a whole: I liked it. I'm not usually one for time travel stories, in fact there are only very few that I genuinley like, so it says a lot when it didn't bother me here at all. The characters for most part felt true to the show and the interaction between Dipper and Wendy was good. The Dipper-Lion facedown is still my favorite scene here, I love it sooooooo much. So good job!

And goodbye I guess if you're serious about leaving fanfic. Hope to still see some fanart since that was what originally brought me here.

I'll be honest, I kind of ran out of time in this last chapter, and recognize a lot of things that I could have done a little better, including their meeting of their future selves. But it's done now, and overall I like how it turned out, and that's what I'm happy about. So yeah.
A brief word about the coded sections: They give the Mother Shifter's story, in its entirety. I felt it was important to give some context for her, since she kind of just popped up at the end of the story with no warning and no introduction. So she has a story now; it starts with her imprisonment aboard the alien ship, and it ends with the beginning of her final fight. She's probably all like...

I'm really, really glad you liked the story. Thanks for taking the time to read and review every chapter, and it really means a lot. I'm glad the time travel went over well, and that my unique brand has some kind of appeal. Its definitely something I want to revisit in my future stories.

And yeah; I really am serious about the no-more-fanfiction idea. It was a decision I made back when I was writing chapter 8, because as much as I love it, it's a lot of hard work and time for very little return. But you can definitely expect fanart and perhaps a brief comic or two; I still love this show to death, I'm just through with making stories in other people's worlds.
So... Yeah. Thanks. And see you around.

>The last fanfiction I will ever write. Because fanfiction is very unrewarding, appeals only to very narrow niches of society, and is vulnerable to being rendered non-canon or obscolete by any new thing your chosen media desides to do.

That is, quite frankly a very illogical thing to write. First of all, if you got into fanfiction thinking of rewards, then boy you were wrong from the start. Secondly, one of the biggest reasons people search for fanfiction is to seek something that differs, or completes the canon. Extra storylines, alternative universes, different themes, all of that is the idea of fanfiction. And thirdly, discovering those niches, people who do like your writing, even if you could count them on fingers of your hand is the beauty of it.

I'm not gonna keep you; if you want to leave, then it's your choice, but it's also one made by very strange reasons.

I was pretty darn tired when I wrote that, and I realize now I wasn't as articulate as I could have been.

There's more to it; more than I could fit in an author's note.

No, I never expected a single reward to come from writing fanfiction, nothing but a few reviews, so I got what I expected. But that's just it; I put blood, sweat, tears, and hours and hours of work into the story, the illustrations, and the Lego, and YOU BET I enjoyed most of it and I learned a lot from the experience... But in the end, I can't make any money off my toil, and the super narrow niche it appeals to means that not many people get to enjoy the things I created. With an original novel, however, I could earn a few bucks, and bring smiles to the faces of thousands of people.

And the whole niche thing also has some personal repercussions for me. Like, my dad, my mom, my grandparents, my brothers and sisters, would all like to hear the stories I come up with and get a feel of what I've been doing with my life, but I can't really just share my work with them and call it 'mine', not when it's about characters and a world I didn't create, that they're not familiar with, and which they require prior knowledge of to fully enjoy. Just by being fanfiction, it alienates itself from most people (even people close to me) who might enjoy it. (Well, we just got the DVD box set, so the situation will definitely improve within my immediate family, but the point still stands.) Don't get me wrong, it's great to get together with people online, and I've made several friends through this story, but in real life, with real physical friends, it doesn't really have much of a place.

And there's more to it than even that. I'll probably make a tumblr post or something later that really lays it out. But in the end, this was a decision I made back while I was writing about chapter 8 of FoD. It's an old decision, and I stand by my notion that it's the right one.
