Description
this took me a whilei didnt create a tutorial before because i knew it was gonna be tedious and i was right. it IS tedious. it took me seven hours to do OTL
but other than that, first time making a tutorial so i hope its fine! it's a basic, basic, baaasssiiiccc tut for PS users, so if you're a professional, well, you have nothing much to learn from this i think!~ xD
anyway, this was requested from ~kbyuu , a school friend of mine irl. i hope this tutorial is easy to follow and can help in future works! ^^
constructive criticism/feedback is welcome ~
update: corrected warm/cool colors part (thanks =PurpleS-cks !) and added minor changes to canvas size

It feels rather brief on lighting/shadows, in my opinion - saying 'take notice of your light sources and anatomy' kind of feels like skipping through the most important part.
I can't speak for other people, but when I first started (colouring) shading my works, the issue wasn't so much about choosing what colours to use, but rather where to apply them in order to get the right impression; I think that's where most people get stuck at by default, too.
For example, a novice may ask (or worse, may omit to ask):
-Where to use soft/hard brushes and to what degree? (for example, clothing, unlike a face, may use harder brushes, because of its shapes; my general rule of thumb there is that the sharper the edge of the object, the harder the edge of the shadow in that area)
-How intense should shadows be? (a lot of initiates that I've seen make shadows barely noticeable at all)
-What about light sources from the side or behind? (ok, maybe not; I understand that this tutorial wasn't intended to be some all-encompassing thing)
-How to reasonably shade hair/folds/frills/cake/etc.? (you gave a few hints for the face, but none for clothing or hair; though clothing for example may require a separate tutorial, a few handy tips are always welcome, even there)

yeap, i understand where you're coming from
but this is a "mini" tutorial so im not making it very detailed. it's just a request from my friend. :> so i'm just trying to help him with what he requested (the shading part of skin and hair)

Isn't it the other way round - cooler colors: purple to green, and warm: red to yellow? o,o
However, great tutorial! (:

Great tutorial, this opened up a couple of things I didn't know about (because I'm a beginner.) :3
I think you should make more tutorials about drawing (if you want to) :3 (I wonder how far 50 dkk would reach tutorial wise :3 )
