Good feeling of depth on the red, a bit overdone on the green. No real composition or idea to figure out, a straight-forward drawing of a rose. The detailing is lacking, feels like an exercise more than a painting for a wall. I would pull in more details on the stem and bud - not in this drawing but in the next one. Work on smoother shading blends (literal and phenomenal).Β

Thanks! My composition was never that good, so I'll just have to work on it.

Hi! I`m from the group. C:
I really like this rose. I like the falling petal especially. The style you drew it in makes it look almost like a painting, and I really enjoy that. The shading is also in good places. The contrast of the red and green fits nicely!
The only thing is probably the blending is a little off. I`m honestly awful at digital, so I`m not sure if I qualify to criticize it. I`m not sure what program you use, but paint tool sai has a really good blending option. The light green parts on the stem are a bit too noticeable.
Awesome job overall! :3

It certainly worked, if you ask me! It's beautiful goddamn rose The composition is also very interesting, not your usual run-of-the-mill straight ahead rose you see everyday.
As far as technique goes, you need to work on your blending and your edges. Most of your edges are soft (perhaps you worked with a soft brush?) which makes the whole picture look out of focus. You also need to blend your colours more, but that comes with practice. These tutorial are very
helpful:

Also, you don't see the rose as a 3D object. I know that sounds silly, but hear me out. You focused more on the petals than on the overall form of the rose, which makes it look a bit flat. A rose is practically petals unfurling over other petals, essentially a cylinder. By focusing on drawing the rose, and not the FORM of the rose, you've made the mistake most beginners do: flattened the whole image. It's not that bad, but you should look into studying the essential shapes that compose all things: sphere, cube, cylinder, cone, pyramid. You'll gain a whole new understanding of drawing and make a HUGE leap in skill. I know I did, at the time

Honestly, it looks awesome! Colours of the rose are good, black made a good background for the red rose, you can clearly see where the light comes from, so the lighting is also nicely done. The only thing that could be done better besides the things others mentioned is the detail. When I look at the drawing a little closer, I can see the lines of the brushes and the petals are a little bit blurry. If you would add more details, it would be better but it still looks very nice Β

Thanks! I'll be sure to add more details next time. I'm new to digital, so I haven't yet gotten the hang of blending in brush lines and such.Β

I think the thorns are a little bit too thick, otherwise I love it. The color of the rose is perfectΒ

Thanks! Next time I draw a rose, I'll make the thorns thinner.Β

Love the colors and I think the stem and the thorns are my favorite parts!Β For the flower itself, I'm not sure how it's supposed to be positioned.Β I'm not sure it's tilted toward the viewer (as the "top" of the flower suggests) or if it's done from the side (as the green part at the bottom suggests).
It looks like you played around with depth of field with the falling petals; I encourage you to keep exploring that because it turned out well and it's refreshing to see!

Thanks! I was trying to position the rose from the side, but I guess it didn't work out too well XD I'll play with depth more.

This piece is absolutely gorgeous! The slight tilt of the rose and its' placement is an interesting choice for the composition. The falling petals add some subtle, but effective visual intrigue. The rose itself is so bright red and vibrant; you captured the contrast between the furled and open petals pretty well. I'd suggest smoothening up some of the shading and softening up some of the sharper edges. That'd really add to the delicate nature of the rose.Β
