Finally done with this guy! He's part 2 of a commission for and I have to say he turned out pretty cool. I'm even considering making another one with the captain of the guard armor on. I was actually surprised how easy he came together. I guess I was anticipating a difficult build but it really wasn't! Maybe Chrysalis has ruined my difficulty standards.Media:
Polymer clay (Sculpey Primo) on Snowcatcher base. Painted with Americana craft acrylics and clear nail polish in places. Sealed with matte Mod-Podge.

The detail here is absolutely amazing! I made my first custom recently and I must say, I don't think I'll be doing it again. The eyes, oh my gosh, the eyes!! They're gorgeous

Very soft watercolor brushes and a sable-hair brush for the fine details.

Wow, the finish on him is just so completely smooth! Thing is, I use matte Mod Podge too, but it ends up having a bit of a texture, how do you do it so well?!

Weird. I use regular un-watered-down Mod-Podge then make sure my brush is soaked, then after I've coated the whole thing run a wet brush over it.

Ok let's see how badly I can confuse you with this. I'm terrible at describing how I sculpt!!
First I just put on pieces of clay in places then smooth them down, then add more where I need it and carve it away where I don't. Does that make any sense? I'm planning on making a detailed tutorial on how to sculpt male pony faces since that seems to be such a huge challenge for so many people. Actually I'll make that the next thing I do. I've got Soarin' in the works in his adorable wedding outfit so that should be perfect for a tutorial! Thanks!

Ok. Try working along the jawline to smooth everything out. The bridge of the nose looks fine, but you need to flatten out the front of the muzzle. I drawed you a terrible picture to show you basically the shape of Dr. Whooves' nose. [link]
