The type three dash two class submarined rectified a tactical deficiency in the original type three dash one , in that the submarine's pronounced raised bow heightened the submarine's visibility when running with a wet deck, which GRCKN submarine tactics in the 1920s encouraged on account of the design's deck gun position. Accordingly, the three dash twos reworked the bow structure and anti-netting spine, reducing the raised height while still retaining a slightly flared bow for better sea keeping behavior. As well as this, the conning tower was expanded in order to accomodate a four inch gun as that had become the standard light caliber artillery piece for the Grecken in 1924.
Having worked the kinks out of the three dash one, the three dash two class was put under some scrutiny prior to being approved by the pacifist uff de Laurent family, which curtailed any notions of substantial surface ship construction in the aftermath of the Great War. However, the nightfleet found approaval from the family on the grounds that a small submarine force could effectively deter a large surface navy, and between 1924 and 1928 eight three dash twos were built. The type was reviewed carefully in 1929 after the loss of S-4, and found to be well in working order, and continues to be used to this day; like the other submarines in the nightfleet at the time, names were issued to S-9 through S-17 in 1930. The only noteworthy incident the type three series endured was the accidental collision of Bulluuhip and Gastraphetes during manuevers in the Gulf of Laurentin in August 1935--amazingly while Bulluuhip suffered flooding, no casualties were reported and both ships returned to service after repairs.
